Almost 3 Years Clean

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Oh Susannah -James Taylor, Sep 11, 2023.

  1. Almost 3 years free and so blessed for every day. 90 days isn’t a magical cure. You can be free today! You never needed it. It never made you happy. It never satisfied you. It never relieved you from anxiety. It was a crutch that you never needed. Love this community, keep improving your lives, and find your passions. PMO only tried to hold you back but it cannot do that anymore because you are free!

Hey Brother, that is awesome! Thanks for coming back to post that. I have been discouraged several times through my recovery when I came to spaces like this and it seemed like I never saw anyone with any success posting. It helps a million just to see someone has figured it out. I am glad you are living a better life.

If you have time for a couple questions, how different would you say your life is without this habit? What kinds of things did you add into life since finding this freedom?

  4. Sorry for the delayed response but I’m happy to chat! Any time I start to feel down, I think back to how hard life felt before I quit and it’s an immediate boost. Quitting felt impossible at one point. I didn’t know how anyone could succeed. I hit a hundred days at one point but every day I would feel that temptation to give in and eventually I did. That was until someone on this forum recommended a book to me. It was called SPAM REMOVED (spam code #001) - REPORT TO MODERATION SPAM REMOVED (spam code #001) - REPORT TO MODERATION based off the book that is used to quit smoking cigarettes. This book taught me that PMO never made me happy. It never did anything to improve my life and only existed as a crutch. The main points I got are listed below:
    • I never needed it to get through my problems
    • All it did was create problems
    • There is no illusion about it anymore. It never made me feel better
    • I don’t even miss it
    • I’ve been so happy ever since I stopped
I didn’t need to quit instagram or avoid potential triggers. There are no triggers anymore because I am a non-fapper. The two things I added into my life are standup comedy and podcasting – two things that I never could’ve attempted even once had I not made this change in my life. I have been doing both for a year in addition to my full-time job. No matter how difficult life can be sometimes, I can celebrate this freedom every single day and it is such a tremendous weight off my chest
