Can Naltrexone actually help recovery?

I've tried for over a decade to recover from PIED, but I always relapse. My longest streak is 7 months, but I need at least 1.5 - 2 years for a full recovery. I've tried all the usual recommendations: exercise, diet, hobbies, outdoors, therapy, etc.

I'm at the point where I'm desperate for a solution. I'm in my 30s now.

I've heard that Naltrexone is prescribed to alcoholics, drug and sex addicts and that it has high rates of success in keeping users sober. Apparently it works by blocking dopamine from reaching the receptors.

I'm thinking of using it as a tool in my recovery.

Can Naltrexone actually help me? Is it an effective tool in the recovery process?

Yes, I started taking Naltrexone. So far I am a month clean with no relapse or edging.
Whether or not it helps me fully recover remains to be seen. I am a severe addict, so I think I will need 1-2 years of recovery. I have a long way to go.

So far, I think it can be an effective tool. When I have urges, I take 25mg of Naltrexone and it takes away the urges within 1 hour.

im on a similar boat, tackling this addiction and PIED for 21 years. im 35 and married, sexless marriage, it sucks. But my wife is the understanding type and im so glad. i would be nervous to take stuff like Naltrexone though, dont have to much and rely on that. just focus on "walking on another street" do new activities and be positive always. be your own best friend and self care is important. its helping me alot.

yeah. me and my wife never had sex, its so sad, shes the innocent type and she never really cared about having sex or even knew an addiction existed, so all these years me and her have had great moments but sex has always been missing, while i have been fapping everyday secretly. and the last few years she finally felt empty and depressed and this has pushed me to stop. its been so hard. i have fapped again today and its frustrated.but i know i need to be positive, self care. the benefits of nofap is far greater and i will fight this. maybe one day we will have sex but for now i need to focus on improving myself and i need to show her that.
