The absence of authority is the absence of order. Obviously not all order such as gravity, time, etc but of government which is something that is natural and necessary for mankind. That’s going to be difficult to do since there wasn’t really another form of government back then like there is now. The Bible does however sufficiently show that all leaders have been put in their positions of power by God either through His Ordaining Will or His Permitting Will. This means we must look at all leaders as being instruments in the Divine Will for our edification, punishment, or both. We are to obey them insomuch as what they want does not conflict with the Supreme Authority, God. We are allowed to oppose injustice, however, if our attempts at opposition have failed then we must accept that God has not willed our escape and that we are being called to embrace that particular cross for our own sanctity and the sanctity of others.
