Well kinda makes sense in a weird way a lot of things that were once legal are now illegal granted some for the better but on the same side of that coin a lot of things that were once illegal are now legal and are gaining more ground to stand on as society is turning towards a more open, now I am not saying that all of that is bad but the things that should have stayed illegal has now bought its way into power and continues to grow. The only way we as victims of this is to stand and fight as one but it would be nice if the government would take a stand for those affected by what porn has done.

The one where you ask the government to help you but they use your consent to help themselves instead. First they'd ban porn, then they'd censor a bunch of other stuff on flimsy pretexts. For example, Canada's human rights tribunal is prosecuting Israel boycotters for "hate speech." I'm not sure how you could protect kids with modern technology without silencing legitimate political dissent.

Sadly that is very true and we are all just molecules in a vast ocean to the governments. The governments that the action are way over the line those that don't just want more money from those they are protecting

The thing about the government is that if they don't have tax payers they don't exist. When porn has been shown to reduce marriages and therefore 'legitimate" children, and also increase divorce and therefore possible social burdens on society, it is in their best interest to ban it. They don't have to ban "freedom of speech" they need to ban porn.

Canada changed their definition of "hate speech" which is why there is issues with 'boycotters' right now. France has the same "hate speech" laws as do many other countries. Only the USA has guaranteed freedom of speech with no laws whatsoever against "hate speech". It is fairly certain a prosecution of boycott advocates for hate speech would not survive a charter challenge.

See? That's exactly what I'm talking about. Lawmakers play semantics games like that all the time. And in America you can be prosecuted for intimidation if you say mean words-you don't actually have to threaten anyone (they could also play the "inciting violence" card like they do in the UK, or liken your facebook posts to someone shouting "fire" in a movie theater)

Then of course there's australia's internet filter, which was originally set up to filter child porn and ended up censoring a bunch of non pornographic sites (and encyclopedia dramatica)
