Hello everybody, this isn't my first account on here, I made my first account years ago and spent a lot of time here, so I'm not new to this, but I had a question... Have any of you developed severe (or less severe) chronic pain or illness from PMO addiction? I have all kinds of really bad health problems and I've been to every doctor and specialist out there and no one can help me or find out what's wrong with me and I was thinking that years of heavy PMO abuse might be the cause. Despite my years of trying, I haven't been very diligent with my streaks, so I can't really know if nofap will fix me. My all time longest streak was about 80 days and that beats my second longest by a lot. If any of you have a similar situation, let me know.

    My personal symptoms are

    1. Terrible muscle pains, especially in my shoulders and upper back
    2. Dry mouth/ Chronically chapped lips
    3. Heartburn/GERD
    4. Breathing difficulties
    5. Burning skin on my low back and back of my thighs that feels like acid on my skin
    6. Depression (probably from the health issues)
    7. Fatigue
    8. Sleeping difficulty/ frequent nightmares
    9. Skin crawling sensations
    10. Ibs type symptoms
    11. Pain when laying on my ribs

There may be a few more, but that mostly covers it. I know that's a lot, but I don't expect you to have all the same symptoms, I'm just curious if anybody has any type of health problem that they think stemmed from PMO or at least improved with nofap. Thanks

PMO addiction brings a lot of negative things.
    For me they are:
    -fatigue
    - the stress
    - depression
    - anxiety
    -sleeping difficulties
    + many others

Yes od course it can, if you masturbate often your body is most focused on creating new sperm that healing other people things and it also damage your brain

    this is my list

    1. Losing eyesight. I used to wear glasses but lost more vision after PMO till I did laser operations few years ago. Now I believe I am starting t lose again

    2. Short Height. I was doing fine till I embraced PMO monster. I have caused a huge imbalance to my hormones. All my friends and family members are taller than me and I am just 160cm.

    3. Kidney stones. I have ruined my kidneys for sure. I have 4 operations of kidney stones in last 2 years and 6 overall in life cause of heavy PMO. I have experimented on some days with PMO o know for a fact that PMO is the leading cause. Kidney issues can trigger all sort of other issues in body.

    4. I triggered purpura (viral disease which I believe was wrong diagnosis, I was just deficient in calcium and phosphorus) after 2 years of started PMO. My veins in stomach and legs were bleeding I could see blood spots from under the skin. I suffered three years with it but once I took phosphorus and calcium and stopped PMO a bit, it went away like a ghost.

    5. I have triggered psoriasis (autoimmune issue, which I know for sure is cause of my stomach lining has become extremely thin cause of PMO and losing essential fluids every day. Purpura was also something similar)

    6. Hair Loss. Those who say it is not linked are completely wrong. I have seen ruining my hair over the years.

    7. Hyper pigmentation. My skin has developed dark patches at many spots and my face is also turning black. Nobody knows why I am having more melanin production but I know its PMO (not an illusion, I know how melanin increases on days when I do it heavily)

    8. Extreme pores on face and acne issue. I have them all the time, didn’t used to have it much even around puberty but after two decades of PMO, I look dreadful)

    9. Deformed bone structure. I have deformed shoulder shape and neck shape cause of all the bad positions I have been using to masturbate. I always lean on my left elbow for that and that spot has turned very dark and nothing on the right elbow. I stay in that position even after my legs and body start feeling pain. I have gained around 25kg in 3 years and my little efforts of weight loss are failing miserably. I look like a fat deformed pig with weird back and neck shape, all thanks to my PMO habits in bed. I have developed several lipomas over the last decade and have been checked for cancer. I know that chemical imbalance I have created in my body is showing its symptoms through such things.

    10. Frequent urination. Also distress in path between left kidney and urethra. Did ultrasound couple of times but nothing there. Feels little bit better if I do not do PMO for couple of days (which is rare).

    11. Extreme heart burn and acid reflex. I woke up many times choking on food during nights. Doctors have told me it is linked with stress and I know what causes stress and imbalance of chemicals inside my body- PMO

    12. Fatigue and body shivers. My body is constantly in pain cause of stress, chemical loss due to PMO, lack of normal life movements and autoimmune problems. Normal pain killers do not work for me anymore (I do not try them regular, only when fatigue or pain goes out of control). I have to take steroid medicine to get rid of extreme fatigue, which basically just suppress my immune system so that I do not temporarily feel pain and fatigue.

    13. Brain fog has reached extreme level. From being a bright student to almost 100% numb, on some days I would stare at one line of coding for hours, not knowing what to do next. I have been fired from previous job cause I was unable to perform at all and I had to take emergency sick leaves many times. I still landed in a similar position but again I did not give up PMO and I am still performing extremely bad.

    14. Breathing issue. Tissues inside my nose have swollen (and so are other things inside my body e.g. tonsils). I had an operation but they grew back within one year and I cannot breathe properly at night. I snore so loud that I have to sleep in a separate room alone. I know for sure my chemical imbalance and nutrients deficiency is linked to it.

    15. Social anxiety. I try to show off in front of others that I am a confident person but I know I am not anymore. I see other people doing lot of activities in in their life and I try to avoid everything, just because I do not want to do anything anymore. Nothing seems to make sense and I would rather waste time in PMO than spending it with others.

    16. Chest Congestion. This is a recent development and although I am not extremely fat ( I am around 83kg, 160cm), I have started to have pain around my chest. I perform badly if I play any sport. All the amateur friends would perform better by default even if they are at same level at mine. Sometimes they make fun of my looks and shape but not in a bully way, perhaps they feel pity for me because they know me since teen age and they know how I used to look normal person and now what I have turned into. They often question me what’s going on and I just tell them these are unknown medical reasons.

    17. Pins and needles feeling. If i start running even a bit or try to lift any heavy object, i have extreme pins and needles sensations all over head, full back and shoulders. I have asked multiple doctors but no one knows exactly how to treat. Some say it might mean lack of some vitamin, some say its a good sign of neurons opening up. What I know it that it is not a good thing as I am suffering from it since 6 years. It is extremely irritating feeling and perhaps my bad postures and excessive laying down in bed during PMO has made lot of veins numb and also I perhaps lack essential nutrients

I might have forgotten somethings in the above list but this is the overall life right now.

I'm sorry you're going through this, I can relate big time. Here's my list

1.) Extreme mid/upper back pain (not spine, more like muscles)

2.) Burning skin in various areas, not hot, but like they have acid on them

3.) Breathing issues - shortness of breath and sometimes a strange feeling when I breath out, like a vacuum and then its like I have to remember to breath back in, like its not automatic

4.) Rib pain whenever I apply any pressure to them, I can't lay on my sides or stomach

5.) Bad heartburn and a constant sour taste in my mouth (probably from the acid)

6.) Muscle pain across my shoulders

7.) Headaches (before gabapentin, thats the only thing the medication really helped with)

    8.) Extreme fatigue at times

    9.) Dry mouth/ chapped lips

    10.) Very bad eye floaters

    11.) Pelvic pain

12.) Depression (probably because of the pain)

    13.) Sleep issues

I don't always experience every symptom at the same time, they come in and out. There may be more, but thats most of it

Have you ever tried or heard of kratom? Its a natural pain killer that is similar to an opiate, but acts on different areas of the brain. You don't need a prescription and it is fairly safe as far as I know. I'm no expert or medical professional, so I don't want to tell you to try something that may be bad for you, so do your own research, but I did plenty of research of my own and concluded that it was worth a try. I've been using it for about 4 or 5 months now and its been a lifesaver. Literally, I came very close to suicide because of the pain and kratom gave me just enough relief to stop me. Its not perfect by any means, I still feel lots of pain and there are some pains it doesn't touch at all, but it really takes the edge off. Some people seem to get even more relief than myself. I don't know if it would help your specific issue or not, you mentioned your body being in constant pain, but I'm not sure what kind of pain, either way though, it may be worth looking into. It can also help with mental issues like anxiety and depression. Its helped me in that area, but from what I've read, tolerance to the mental effects kicks in faster than tolerance to the pain killing effects. Anyway, I didn't mean to ramble on about kratom, but maybe it'll help. If nothing else, it might help out until you can reboot and heal yourself that way.

I have experienced literally every single symptom you listed on daily basis except drymouth and burning skin, in my case I sometimes get some sharp pains but not burning skin you said, also for ibs symptoms I only gotten bowel issues and sometimes stomach pain from those issues, but every other issue you listed I have them all too! I started masturbating last year when I was 16 and now I'm 17 with all those issues you listed, I never had ANY of these issues before I started masturbating so I know 100% its caused by masturbation for me also these issues start healing if I abstain from masturbation. The only cure for this I think is to abstain from masturbation and never do it again, realize it only brings you pain and suffering.

How long have you been PMO free and does it get better for you if you abstain?

Hey, that's crazy, you even get the rib pain? I haven't found anyone who shared that symptom yet.

I'm surprised your symptoms began so quickly if you've only been masturbating for 1 year, it took about 12 years for the worst of my symptoms to appear. Im sure pmo can cause issues at any time though. It's good you're catching it so early, it will probably be easier to reboot. I've been trying nofap for years now, at least 5, but my streaks usually aren't that long. My all time highest streak, which was really good for me, was about 80 days and if I'm being honest, I didn't notice many, if any health improvements and that's why I got discouraged and relapsed. I did a lot of research and it seems like many people take much longer than that to reboot and heal, so I'm hoping to do much better. Like I said though, for you in may be much sooner than others because of the short time you were addicted. Good luck

For the rib pain I don't always feel it but it happened to me many times after pmo that I would have a very sharp rib pain and difficulty breathing, now when it comes to breathing ever since I started pmo I had more difficulty breathing and sometimes even felt like I am going to pass out. Ever since I started pmo I constantly felt like an ill person and I never felt this way before in my entire life I can safely say this is my worst period in my life as of yet, my symptoms from masturbation in the beginning weren't so bad but as months passed they worsened and now this September they were the worst ones I have had yet so I am finally gonna put and end to this since living like this is pure suffering. My best streak was only 4 days which is not alot... If I abstain for a day or two I don't feel fully recovered but I do feel around 20-30 percent better, and if I relapse I feel even worse than before and all of my symptoms worsen. Good luck man I hope you beat this sickness, masturbation brings nothing good only pain and suffering I think we need to stop making excuses for why we do it and just stop doing it.

I would definitely consider reading (pages 20-30 in the attached PDF) the attached study guide. It was excerpted from a book from
Manhood Perfectly Restored by Prof. Jean Civile. The book is from the late 1800s, but the pages that I noted above, are alarmingly very similar and relevant to the effects of excessive and repetitive PMO. They say insanity is "doing the same thing over and over, but expecting different results. Well, this book actually goes into actual cases of insanity (remember, the late 1800s) caused by PMO, so if that doesn't grab your attention... (LOL!)

Now, just a heads-up, this book was written back in the day, so I do not advise any "cures" that are suggested. I am not a doctor either, but these symptoms are strikingly similar to a huge majority of posts in this thread.

I for one certainly do not discount literature, especially when the content is eerily relatable to the times we live in. Almost like a time machine...?

    Best of luck!

Not permanent or severe issues from PMO, no. I am generally and fortunately of good overall health.

However, after constant and excessive PMO, I did find myself with lower back pain, upper chest and lower abdomen muscle strain, frequent migraines in the daytime, eye strain (the result of staring at a screen for hours at night), shoulder pains, and digestive issues (heartburn, constipation, etc). I was PMOing excessively on and off for around 4 years before I finally correlated my PMO habit to my symptoms (bold font). I was able to make that correlation, because I kept a journal of symptoms, and watched them disappear after abstaining from PMO ("taking breaks" from porn). I also did become largely depressed (not clinically diagnosed, but it was quite obvious to me) in a recent couple of years. But then again, my life (and everyone else's life, I suppose from COVID-19) was (and is) a rocky road during those years, and I found myself isolated among other factors. I strongly believe porn was a huge huge HUGE factor, but not the only one regarding the depression I felt (and sometimes feel, but I am better today than I was one year ago).

Anyways, I am fortunate enough to say that I haven't had any inclement health issues arise, but I know it's certainly possible with other people (and perhaps I could develop health issues myself if I continued my habit). When I read that article, I also speculated that PMOing had caused other problems that I had faced. I remember one time, passing out after "standing up too fast". I became extremely dizzy and light-headed. I eventually put 2 and 2 together and realized I "wacked it" for 5 hours prior to passing out (at the time I blamed it on other things, such as "standing up too fast" [maybe a form of "self-denial" at that time]).

So generally speaking, no I haven't developed health issues, but I have had my fair share of wearing down my body physically and mentally from porn use/excessive masturbation. So that is my answer to your question. And I also found it super fascinating that they had that knowledge back then. It is still relevant today!

You say you didn't have many issues and have good overall health, but then you say you had back pain, abdominal pain, headaches, digestive issues, eye strain, depression and shoulder pain. I may have more pronlems than that, but those sound like a decent amount of issues to me lol. Are you just saying they weren't too bad or too frequent?

I'm pretty convinced at least some of my issues stem from pmo, but I got discouraged when I made it to about 80 days and nothing improved. I'm trying to go for longer this time, so I can really see once and for all if it has any effect or not. Plus I'd rather not be addicted to pmo anyway. How long did it take for whatever issues you did have to clear up after abstaining?

Nop. Struggling a lot in getting a big streak. But overall fatigue gets a bit reduced and bloating painful belly feels a bit of relief after 3 days. But the overall relief is minute..really need to do a big streak to feel big difference.
