There has been a lot of compelling research about the healing effect of journaling or emotional release writing. I will say that the daily practice of writing three hand-written pages each day has been a massive help for me in releasing pent-up anxiety and frustrations, gaining clarity about my own inner state and cycles, and also providing a sense of focus and stability.
Lately I have started writing repetitive mantras for myself, to plant seeds in my mind that I can use when urges come up.
    One is:
Feel the urge. See it. Watch it.
    Breathe.
    Let it pass.
Refocus and Redirect. Find something positive to do to be proud of.
    Exercise. Meditate. Read. Write. Study.

And another more prayerful, meditative affirmation is:
I am free of all addictions that do not serve me.
My life is full of blessings that are furthering self-improvement.
All distractions are obliterated by a clear state of mind,
And the collective consciousness of Earth is having a similar awakening.

I particularly like repeating the second one, because it feels like I am connecting with the higher self-version of me that has transcended this addiction and all the anxiety, resentment, and fear that comes along with it. Words have real creative power, and there is power in claiming your goals and visions in the NOW! Feel free to try these or create your own mantras/affirmations that feel right for you, I hope they help some of ya'll like they are helping me.

Does anyone else use mantras? If so, what are ones that you like?
