Does being a porn addict make me need more sleep?

I'm 27 years old and have been addicted to porn pretty much ever since I can remember. Likewise, I've also needed a good 9-10 hours of sleep per night to feel "decent" as opposed to the ~8 that's recommended. Even still, I'm super groggy in the mornings and don't fully wake up for about 2-3 hours after a couple cups of coffee. Throughout the day, I'm sometimes pretty lethargic even though I've 'had plenty of sleep'. I don't regularly wake up in the night (that I remember), but it seems I just don't get good quality sleep. I know insomnia can be a symptom of withdrawal, but could it also be a symptom of addiction? Has anyone noticed sleeping noticeably less, or feeling more energetic after waking up, after completing a reboot and breaking their PMO cycle? I would love to be able to feel refreshed and ready to go after 8 hours of sleep each night!

I have better sleep when i don't fap, i need about 7-10 days to feel effect, also i don't need 7-8, sometimes is even 5 hours enough and i am ok during day. If i fap i am tired and feel like sh.t next couple days.

  3. I think everyone has a different amount of sleep that is right for them, personally i need 7 hours for me to be able to get up and out of bed feeling able to face the world, although I can just about function on 5. Peoples sleep cycles change naturally at certain stages of development, for example teenagers actually need 9-10 hours sleep, which is why as teenagers we probably spent stupid amounts of time in bed sleeping through till the mid afternoon! There is research that notes the effect of 'blue light' which is the light emitted from backlit screens like your PC monitor or smart phone screen, if you use these devices right up until the point where you want to go to bed you will find it difficult to get to sleep, i know i do. I think PMO and lack of sleep is more to do with the fact you are engaging in an activity late at night and that you are feeling high on dopamine, so it will take a while for your mind and body to calm down. I've been clean for 956 days and now I wake up at 6:30 am every day but that may be more down to the fact i've changed my career to a physical hard labour job. I still wake up before 8am on the weekend and these days I find it pretty much impossible to sleep past 8am.
