Has anyone really been successful with this? How did you manage it with your partner? Did they know or you just reset on your own and eventually had success?

What do you mean by successfully rebooted? This is an addiction that needs to be stopped, very few actually stop long term. Success is about 5% for this addiction. My husband is 3.5 years into recovery. He relapsed at 1 year. It’s better to be honest with your partner.

You need to be careful about what constitutes success, what I call success may not be what you call success, what I call addicted may not be what you call addicted, etc. But the short answer is "yes". I am on Day 2,096 without porn and I call that successful (though I still think of myself as an addict).

She provided the catalyst that I needed to start trying to quit porn, and her love and support has been important.

She did not want day-to-day updates. Things might have gone quicker if she had, though who knows. For me it was six years of trying, with lots and lots of relapses before I hit this current streak. For me the big big difference between success and failure was finding this site.

The thing about day to day updates is that in the beginning they can be terribly painful for the so. This can slow their progress in the relationship. At least i know it had a horrible impact on me. We had to change how we checked in or talked about where he was at. This is why group/accountability partners are so important. I just found out my husband is a year and 5 months clean from porn, 4 months clean from masturbating. That’s a nice surprise, but in the beginning it had become too painful each time he slipped. So we had to change how we did things. It really depends on the couple.
