I thought this would help. You can download this software (I get it free with my service provider) and with it you can limit internet access to certain hours of the day, block porn sites, block different messaging applications, block video streaming...all sorts of things. Of course you can switch it off too if you are the one loading it - but setting a password like "iamaddictedtopornandidonotwanttodothis" is usually a good way to protect against yourself. Or get someone else to set the password for you. However, sadly, it is a McAfee piece of shit software so basically it sits on your computer constantly breaking your connection which means, for me at least, loads of things I use for accessing remote computers breaks. It even interrupts downloads - really annoying. Can anyone recommend an alternative? I can't set blocking on my router.
I created another account on my computer (or rather, my friend did), had him set parental controls on my own account. he has the password, and he tested to make sure it works. On the flipside -- I can't go to websites like "Your Brain on Porn" or the website used to get myself a PMO counter.... but I'm at least grateful for my lack of ability to look at porn.
Hi aaron92 Thanks! K9 Protection is much better and so far hasn't screwed anything up. I had to switch off the admin part of the block effect because it would have been too easy/tempting to override if I ever get to that position. For anyone who is interested the software is at http://www1.k9webprotection.com/
