***Monk Mode 2016***

  1. I disagree with the shame part, you try to boost your motivation extrinsically which tends to not work, and you lower your self-esteem which can make you feel like you are actually the kind of person you don't want to be (on a bad day) and it will lower the resistance to withstand urges. Just my personal experience (although I'm not an expert).

What? But it works for me...

But because of my confession, I have the motivation to change myself.

No, I was on a 10 day streak without trying after telling her about my addiction. It's like I kinda alienate myself, like: "That's not the person I truly am! I cannot believe this!". And as a result, I didn't be willing to associate myself with this person.

  4. If it works for you then I won't doubt it too much, but you might overthink it if you ever enter a flatline, because there could be moments where you won't have any motivation towards anything (at least for me).

You mean that this motivation has an end, right? Yes, that's true, and when I hit the flatline, I can be unmotivated. The answer is: discipline. Motivation is for beginning something, discipline is for ending something.

I'll try it. The no fantasizing part is going to be the most difficult part I think.

When you fantasize, go back into your body, the present moment, the scenery around you.

Day 4. Focus on your heart or your head if you have trouble staying on point. Manage your diet. Identify your little lifestyle vices. Sitting too much is a big one. Pinpoint what you need to do and have been putting off. Yes, I am talking to myself as much as you all. Make it so discipline is easy instead of hard. You're posting here, so I know you can do it. You want to do it.

A couple of observations: I tend to spiral out between starting and 3 weeks, but if I take a nap, I bounce back better than I was before. My emotions get stronger, so too the awareness of my environment, but it's not hypervigilance like when I'm high or PMOing too much. More like "I understand what's going on". I get tired less easily, but when I do get tired it tends to be more mentally than physically, as I said before: napping.

Spirituality woo woo deepak chopra warning, hard materialist atheist skeptics please look away.

Without fail I go through phases between each week that seem to correspond with the ayurvedic dhatus each which seem to manifest along a 4 day span. Around day 11-14 I get a stomach pain/pressure, which then intensifies, then goes away, then I feel it in my chest, then it goes away and a lot of my mental and emotional instability leaves me. I know ayurveda expressly says one should not repress one's sexuality, so too do the Taoists, but I like to live dangerously. Besides, I've been PMOing for 8 years, I deserve to rebuild some frittered away essence.

    This is hard...

I went to the grocery store for a couple items and every single woman in the place looked good to me.

I am learning that this is going to take a fully intentional commitment and actions to back it up. Full participation.

I need to see this world and the people in it through new eyes

I am in, I am doing Monk Mode for life. I am gay so I assume the that would have to tell a male about porn addiction etc. which I have already done. I have confided in me best friend and he is a male.

When you read writing on celibacy in the west or brahmacharya in the east, they say celibacy "in thought, word, and deed". The reason, I have found, is that desire in one aspect bleeds into the other aspects and causes you to fail. Perfect celibacy in thought and deed makes it much easier. I find it helps to focus on people's eyes and faces. Their "essence".
