    Hey,

Great thread here. I have been an hardcore player for years too. Played sometimes 16-18 hours a day. And sometimes not a single time in several months.

In my opinion, video games are not as harmful as PMO. Even a small amount of porn alters your brain and your thoughts. I think that playing video games is not necessarily harmful, providing that you're not binging. We all need time to chill. Watching TV, slack on Facebook or Youtube, video games, it is all quite the same. If you do it sometimes with moderation you'll not experience many troubles.

The problem with these hobbies, is that you'll not get any profit of these. A complete waste of time. You can't have real objectives in a game (unless you're a pro player). You'll not earn money, you'll not please anyone, you'll not learn anything useful. The satisfaction you get from playing is instantaneous, but do not last in time. Knowing that, spend all of your time in front of a screen will create a gap between your real expectations in life and your immediate pleasure, which will makes you feel bad in the long run, and will prevent you from thinking and coming into bloom. Moreover, no matter if you play video games 9 hours a day or only 3 hours but also 3 hours on Netflix and 3 other on Facebook. The result is the same. You're wasting your time.

To sum up, we can't be productive 24/24 7/7, so we all have more or less time to spend doing useless activities. No problem with choosing video games unless you're not using all your free time (or more) for these. If you can't do this, then perhaps yes you should totally quit, so that you'll be able to regain a taste for real life before being able to casually play.

I don't really have a big desire to play video games now. I remember a few months ago i was really craving games so I went and got some. I gotta just keep my eye on that urge though because it could crop back up. Sometimes I miss the feeling of a good old fashioned mario SNES game. I also got into watching custom mario levels on youtube. It was even more new stuff and became fun to watch. But I haven't done it in this streak because I think it will kinda start to weaken me.
