It is my first post and my day eight of no faping, edging, sex or pornography actually I have been looking to stop masterbating for quite long and I kind of looking to abstain myself being controlled by my penis :p which has been controlling me since I was 14 year old one day I decided and this nofap site really helped me setting goal as well as supporting that there are more than the people I thought would be looking after such thing and I find this site really help full. I will be like posting all of my progress specially any changes or anything worthy of mentioning. Wish everyone and me happy no faping :)

Keep going. A word on withdrawals. You will not quit PMO without them. They suck. Quitting porn is like losing a loved one, it's been in our lives so long. When you quit your brain's chemical reward center, which dispenses dopamine in response to porn, starts to punish you. It begs you, threatens you, and punishes you for quitting. This punishment is emotional, mental, and physical. An idea I have been working on is that we have to want that pain, because it is necessary to go through it to get clean. You can't just endure it or try to wallow through it, you have to embrace it, seek it out. I know that sounds crazy, but most guys here relapse to get rid of that pain, but the guys who quit it almost come to look forward to it. I am not a big believer in no pain no gain, but in the case of quitting porn, it's necessary.

    Good luck to you.

    Hello and welcome!

This might sound a bit trite but this is a copied and pasted message because I think its important to greet people but don't have to time to type out the same message every time. So rather than just ignore people I figured it would be good to do this?

Just to get you started can I just make the following suggestions (and they are only suggestions)?

    1. Head over to the forums at the top of the main page. Don't be shy. Wade in and see what grabs your interest. Start a thread. Help others and be helped just by getting involved. Plus its the PERFECT antidote to fapping!

    2. Check out the website yourbrainonporn if you haven't already and make use of the brilliant resources there.

    3. Consider doing a 90 day reboot and get yourself a tracker (see bottom of this post)

    4. Lighten up! Humour really is the best medicine and can really help you see things from a new and and helpful perspective. (And you need that more than anything right now. Right?)

    5. Consider reading the book 'Changing for Good' by James O Prochaska. Is a particularly helpful tool for those who want to make positive and LASTING change in their life. Several of us have found this to be an indispensable tool.

    7. Don't get into arguments (especially over the usual politics/religion stuff) We are all human here and we are in this together regardless of our chosen 'path' (even if you believe truth is a 'pathless' land!)

    6. Thank the founder of this site Alexander. It really is making the world a better place (I truly believe that!) And credit where its due I say!!

    7. Greet and encourage newcomers...;-)

All the very best to you :)

Help and be helped. So true.

My advice: stay active. Stay active not only in your body and mind, but also here in the forums. Try not to be alone if possible, and try not to get bored. Get up and get out if you are, because boredom and loneliness generally lead (me) to PMO.

Good luck and dont be too hard on yourself if you slip. Keep on keepin' on!
