This nofap project is indeed very interesting. But one thing that makes me sceptical is the lack of critical voices. Many people claiming it solves so many of their problems, but is it really true for all of you?

I tried long periods without fapping (the longest was really two years some years ago!) and then again periods with a lot ... I am not really sure I can confirm all those positive claims made in this forum. More energy ... Can not really say that I feel that ... At some point abstinence is just painful and my mind just occupied by the thought of not relapsing, just thinking of sex or fapping basically. It does not get less with me ( and friends claim I have a low sex drive!)

My feeling is that periods of abstinence are helpful to get to know yourself. But as with anything, is not a balanced use better than complete abstinence?

I do not want to claim that my experience here is all correct, so I would be really curious to hear your views. And please convince me where I may be wrong, or why it may not work for me. But I just cannot confirm those amazing positive effects that some of you claim to experience.

Maybe there is more than me feeling the same?

    Hey monachus
You didn't mention if you MO with or without P.

a person who faps once a week and maybe needs 5 minutes to O is different than
a person who spends hours each day looking for the right video.

If you are of the first type, you will probably not find much advantages to nofap.
But the catch is, you will gradually become the second type if you continue watching P.

    Hope that answers your question.

I think you have to view noFap subjectively. What people write here is not necessarily going to be the whole truth - it is the truth that helps them work towards a goal and help others aim for the same goal. Language and claims are positive, hopefully non-confrontational and inspiring. People do write about their failures, but don't criticise when others have them. So noFap may well appear to be rose-tinted, but that is because we are all fragile people and it is what we need right now.[/QUOTE]

Sounds like you have achieved great things and experienced many aspects of PMO addiction. Maybe you are more honest or realistic about the affects abstinence has on you. It certainly sounds like you have experienced the same struggles that many people describe here. I don't think noFap is offering a "better" or more "enjoyable" way of kicking PMO. But maybe you can find people who will help with suggestions of how to fill the void with techniques or activities that are more physically rewarding.

2 years is an amazing achievement. That shows great focus and self-recognition. I hope you find the answers you need to maintain that self-control and find happiness.

You can read some relevant books. For example, books about Jewish, Buddhism or traditional chinese medicine. I'm a chinese. We have a long history about health cultivation. Many famous people in ancient times already pointed out the importance of abstinence. We have many books about health cultivation, about abstinence. So, if you can get some of this book, you can try to read it. Actually, I just have abstinence for about four months, not like you, had two year's abstinence. But, I think you are confused and you need some answers. So, I just recommend you some books.
My English is not very good. Sorry. Hope this will help you.

To be honest I think nofap doesn't necessarily give you super powers but acts as a catalyst to gain powers. For example I can't relapse so instead I will try and find ways to avoid pmo. So to avoid it I will do exercise, by doing exercise I feel more energetic and confident. Since I can control my urges, I feel empowered and confident. So basically abstaining won't do anything, you need to change your lifestyle and nofap is one of the steps to becoming a better person.

I think nofap actually does give you some natural new "powers", I relapsed today (intentionally) on day 43 and the one HUGE thing I noticed that nofap gave me in the last 43 days was aggression, fearlessness and mental toughness, I had almost no fear of any physical altercations and was actually desiring violence. I also didn't give a shit about anything and didn't care what people thought of me, it sort of turned me into a badass.

However I relapsed today because for me the cons outweighed the pros, I was extremely depressed, bitter, unproductive with school and work, I guess they were just withdrawal symptoms but I can't have them getting to me now so i decided to fap to porn to temporarily get back to my old ways so I can be temporarily productive, when i'm not as busy i'll get back to it because there are clear benefits to nofap.

I'm also a virgin and I can't see myself losing my virginity anytime soon, that thought kept bothering me these last 43 days and fapping is sort of helping me forget about that, when that time comes i'll stop fapping again, in the meantime i'll do it more moderately than before

Monachus - nofap has to be a means to an end. In my case I realized I was a porn addict and excessive masturbation led to ED. Nofap helped me cure my ED. Now that I am mostly cured - I have sex when I can. Humans need sexual release - if you do not have a chance to have sex regularly then masturbation is the only way out. There is huge difference between masturbating to porn videos and masturbating to fantasy/erotica. Finally a balance is very important. After a while - zero sexual release is probably as bad as excessive masturbation.

Well @monachus, i wouldn't be surprised if most people on here (including myself) aren't just trying to get to know themselves and figure stuff out. One of the big reasons that most people go without masturbating is because masturbation and porn go hand and hand for a lot of people. So if you want to quit porn it is usually a big help to quit masturbation to. The other big one is ED or other problems, when people suffer ED the best way to naturally cure it is to "Resensitize" the penis and ones sexuality, to do this one must eliminate PM and O. Now I will finish off by saying that everyone has their own walk in life when it comes to sexuality, everyones walk contains masturbation at some point, but its just that some people see it fit to masturbate less (or not at all) when compared to others.

Agree with all of the said above. Personally, I find nofap as an indefinite break from porn to look for the alternative. Namely a healthy relationship(s) with real sex.
