Didn't realize my thread would gain this much attention. Thank you to the ones who back up my claims with PROOF based off their side effects from this disease as well. To the non-believers, I really only tried to help and spread awareness, as I feel it is part of my duty. I don't have anything to gain by making false claims. I only want others to be better and learn from mine and others mistakes. I am a genuine guy. I am not here to mess around. I want this disease killed like each and every single one of you do

Ricardo, Instead of fear, I want you to feel hope. Grasp on hard to hope and don't let go of it. Take it with you wherever you go. I want you to know that with hope you will always be able to change and overcome to defeat any demon that comes in your path. You are the man and don't let anyone tell you different.

The symptoms are listed in the first post of my journal, but I think I missed a few of them. In general, great improvement is shown regarding most of them, after staying clean for a few months. They may still come from time to time, but are much less frequent and less intense.

I can't promise my symptoms are linked and when and I know to some it sounds crazy saying they might be, but I have several reasons for thinking so. First off, I started pmo at 10 years old (although, not quite P, stuff from movies and imagination at that age), for the majority of my life I M'd 3 times a day on minimum, sometimes up to probably 8-10. After awhile I started noticing things were off. Nothing major at first, I would feel mildly fatigued and I would sometimes wake up with nausea. I dropped out of school when I was 16 to work construction and I always noticed that even though I was young, I had much less stamina than the people I worked with. I would be sore and tired early in the day and the next day I was always sore no matter what I did, when others weren't. (by the way, I fully realize this could be leading to an illness or infection or autoimmune disorder, but bear with me). So, when I was about 20 or 21, I had a period of stress that led to very heavy pmo use. At one point I even hurt my penis doing it. I injured it somehow, it was very painful, har to pee and it developed a curve that's still there today. It was during this time, that my health took its first drastic turn. I was became severely short of breath, I developed crazy eye floaters, my joints ached, I was extra nauseaous, all kinds of stuff. By the way, during this whole time and even in my teens, I couldn't get a proper erection for the life of me. I was miserable, and while looking up the cause of the injury, i accidentally stumbled on nofap and the idea that overmasturvation could be harmful. I began moderating myself, I didn't do a great job because I was severely addicted, but I would make it a week or two at a time before relapsing. I continued this cycle for 3-4 months and eventually my symptoms mostly cleared up and I was able to return to work. For the next year or 2, I practiced nofap on and off, with some success and some periods of binge after binge. I'm gonna get to the point here...Finally, after one binge, I became horribly ill, even worse than last time, all kinds of bad symptoms. From then until now, about 6 or 7 years, I have bounced from every doctor and specialist you can think of and all of them are baffled and see no way to help me. Then last January, I relapsed after my longest streak to that date, which I think was about 40 days and my health took an even more drastic turn and I've been at my wits end with pain ever since.

Some symptoms have come and gone, but all together during this fight, I have experienced...

    Extreme back pain
    Pain in my shoulders
    Dry mouth
    Shortness of breath
    Tender Ribs
    Pelvic Pain
    Tailbone Pain
    Weak erections
Arm and leg pain that almost mimicked MS (i tested negative for it)
Feeling of Sunburned skin on various parts of my body
    Burning ears
    Reflux/Gerd
    Nausea
    Headaches
    Floaters
Flu-like sensations/aches in my body (but much worse)
Hair-loss (the least of my worries right now, but still)
    Rashes
    Massive fatigue
    Brain fog
Sleep issues (whenever I get close to sleep, my body jolts awake. This used to only happen the day after I relapsed, now it's constant. I can't sleep without ambien.

I'm probably forgetting some, but that mostly covers it. I'm not naive, I'm a very logical person and that's part of the problem. Whenever I get an urge or get discouraged, I convince myself that "there's no way pmo can cause all that" "there's no scientific evidence" "I'm just fooling myself that nofap will fix me", and I end up relapsing, but deep down I know that my addcition has a part to play in this. All my anecdotal evidence (I've kept a daily chart of my symptoms for 5 years now, so I can look back and see patterns) and years of researching similar stories (though most not as drastic), points to pmo being the enemy. Now, I'm not saying that nofap will cure every one of my problems, it may or may not, but I do think that it will make some go away and or lessen the overall effects. A few months ago I made it to 76 days and saw no improvement so I got discouaraged and relapsed, but I realize that that isn't a long enough time to reverse the damage I've done

So, I realize I may sound like a crack pot, but that's just my story and my theory, but if it does turn out to be true, let it be a cautionary tale for anyone who isn't this far gone and if you are, let's end this addiction once and for all and prove one way or the other whether nofap will be the cure

Sorry for the super long post

I checked it out. I'm sorry you had to go through all that. I can relate to most of those symptoms as well as some of my own and I've had to quit my job and pretty much become house bound. Its good to hear that you're symptoms have improved, it gives me hope. How long did it take to start noticing improvements in health?

I wouldn't be so sure about no scientific evidence. In fact there is plenty of scientific evidence. You may want to look into the disposable soma theory and the expensive germline hypothesis. This is one of the main theories of aging, by the way.

The following studies may indicate a link between long-term PMO addiction and negative effects on the prefrontal cortex, neurotransmitters, hormones, androgen receptors, the central nervous system, GI motility, insulin sensitivity and etc.
    • Downregulates neurotransmitters (e.g., dopamine and serotonin) - 1, 2, 3, 4
    • Disrupts hormonal balance (e.g., testosterone, prolactin and adrenaline) - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
    • Decreases the volume of grey matter in the brain (prefrontal cortex) - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
    • Reduces the density of androgen receptors - 1 2 3 4
    • Deteriorates mental health - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
    • Exhausts the central nervous system - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
    • Decreases gastric secretions and contributes to GI ulceration - 1, 2, 3
    • Disrupts gastrointestinal motility - 1, 2, 3, 4
    • Promotes insulin resistance - 1, 2, 3, 4
    • Leads to sexual dysfunction and decline in sperm counts - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

Here is a SPECT scan showing the brain damage caused by long-term PMO addiction:

It could take from 6-9 months to more than a year just to reverse the brain damage, according to this study - https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0059645#pone-0059645-g001.

    I would say 20 days...?

I don't know the exact number of days, because they just happen gradually without my knowing of it. Plus, different symptoms have different healing speeds. For instance, I still have some symptoms (e.g. skin problems) which mostly remain unchanged till now.

Everyone has different background and the amount of time required for recovery could be largely different. But I believe as long as one keeps going on with his journey, he will eventually rid himself of most, if not all, of the ailments. I hope you will recover soon!

Thank you for this detailed reply. I'll look it all over in a bit. I realize I shouldn't have said "no scientific evidence" anyway, I've done a lot of research over the years and I. Have found some, but I guess I meant for a case as severe as mine if it is indeed causing all my issues. Even then though, if there's proof it can mess with your brain, then there's proof it can do anything. I've only given your info a glance so far, I'll look it over in detail soon.

Cool. Yeah, I realize everyone is different, I've seen wildly different answers to this kind of question, I veqas just wondering what it was in your case. I know for me, I've gone 76 days and seen no improvement, that's why I got discouraged and relapsed (sorry if I already said this, I can't keep track of these posts lol). I know a lot of people take much longer to heal, so I want to tough it out and see what happens. Best case, I'll fix my hrealth, worst case, I know once and for all that nofap isn't the answer and I'll have beaten my PMO addiction

True story, plus infertility. Your wife will not get pregnant and later on, they will discover you have zero or low sperm count problem. Plus heart problems etc. Just wait.

    For healing try this:
    1. Wim Hof breathing daily.
    2. Earthing - placing your bare feet on the grass for 15-30 minutes several days a week.
    3. Drink Butterfly Pea Flower Tea daily.
    4. Eat 4 dried dates soaked overnight in water early each morning.

The only way you can find out if this helps or not is by trying it out. Patience, persistence and faith are your friends. Skepticism isn’t.
