quitting sugar and coffee again...

Discussion in 'Fitness' started by LOSEmyselftoSAVEmyself, Sep 9, 2020.

  1. Yes, I'm in the withdrawals now. It is a lot of suffering.

I don't know why I just can't quit for good.

But I did 6 months without in 2018, after my first reboot.

Probably the reason I keep eating sugar and drinking coffee

is because of the fears and loneliness.

Sometimes I can handle it, and sometimes it's too strong.

But I can't just go eat 3,000 calories of chocolate bars when I feel bad.

And on coffee, I drink it on a non stop basis.

But all that dopamine is for the birds.

Hedonism and decadence for avoiding problems.

And, they don't really even do that much.

After the second day of the binge, I felt just as hopeless as ever!

Then, I really felt helpless because my problems were there,

    and I was gaining weight.

    Aversion really is a deception.

Running from fears, problems, emotions is worse than facing them.

Using smart phones, eating junk, fast food, drinking coffee,

all it is is a big dopamine quest.

And it makes that person weaker and weaker.

Added sugar is a menace that needs to be cut in half and thrown down a massive hole. Ditch it and don't look back.

Coffee is OK if you do intensive exercise during the caffeine high. The negative effects of caffeine only come about when you don't use the energy boost to do any activity. If you drink a bunch of coffee and then sit down and do nothing, you're gonna start shaking and have the withdrawal effects once the high ends.

Case in point: drink coffee only if you promise yourself to expend that energy shortly afterward. Many athletes, including myself, actually use caffeine for this very purpose.

  4. Yeah totally agree with the sugar. Don't eat it, don't think about it.

    That's good advice.

I think the coffee is not a huge deal if I only have 1 or two cups a day,

but it'd be better to go to zero.

I've been to zero for long periods of time.

During that time, my energy and moods stabilize.

Mainly I just drink it to have a reason to go to a coffee shop.

I think of coffee as a double-edged sword.

    Pros:
-Good energy when you need it.
-Helps digestion (I have IBS-C so it's kinda necessary).
-Tasty and versatile without necessarily being fattening, for example I like to do an ice coffee in the mornings with some keto caramel syrup. Yum!
-I think it does have overall health benefits but don't quote me on that.

    Cons:
-Causes a crash if not used correctly.
    -Can be addictive.
-The jitteriness can easily turn into horniness.

Pick your poison I guess (or rather pick if you want poison or not).
