I think for this not to happen old users like @AtomicTango, and more skilful users like @FirefromAbove and @SickSicko need to avoid instigate too much hot topics debate when new users we like are starting to appear in the page. It's our duty as experienced users to help the new ones to control themselves. Not instigate endless discussions.

Or if we are starting to see patterns in new users that could get them banned simply tell them in the threadthey are posting to warn them.
