I've successfully stopped masturbating and watching porn for 30 days now and I'm wondering wether I should go back to masturbating but slowing down to about 3 times a week and gradually decreasing it? I really want to see how much I've changed and whether I actually rebooted.
Jeffrey, I would keep going as long as you can without. The longer you go the better results you will see. If you're a young guy, I get the temptation can be intense but I want to see how far you can take this streak. 30 days is commendable but the general rule is at least 90 days. This is for the fact that it takes a while for your brain to adjust. It took a long time to get to that day 30 days ago, it most likely will take a long time to get completely better too. Let me know man, Winslow
Hey dude. I recently went 30 days, and then decided to try m. Well i got chaser effect really bad and it didn't work, got back to p. I agree it 1/3 of way to 90, stick with.
“I thought masturbating was embarassing. I didn't even know why. It just was. It was like having sex with yourself. Having sex with yourself was really weird. Autoeroticism.” ― Benjamin Alire Sáenz, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
I have never made it to 90 days, but my current streak is the first time that I have ever tried to go without masturbation as well. This method has made things easier. I am less tempted to seek out even the initial triggers. Now, my struggle is more based on avoiding masturbation rather than porn that leads to it. And the triggers for masturbation without porn are easier to avoid.
Just one thing to think about: if you've been free from both porn and masturbation for 30 days then masturbating three times a week is not "slowing down"! It's restarting. Why restart only in order to slow down/reduce again? What this says to me is that your brain still sees masturbating often as your "normal" and is trying to trick you. Stick with the reboot.
