The Taoists do it a bit differently, they circulate it instead of just send it up.
Strictly speaking this isn't transmutation though, you're just circulating it and the process of circulation balances things. Presumably because the brain is involved it can play a part in changing it into something else, and in general you just have a better chance of other parts of the body doing something different with it. It's also not meant as a quick fix like "when you feel an urge" - the context of this stuff is in certain spiritual traditions, but then you get some modern people talking about it, to say nothing of the short term outlook of people on this site. On the rare occasion when someone even mentions a specific reference it's one of the most popular sources but certainly not the only one, and it should go without saying that the most popular of anything isn't always the best or most comprehensive source of information. I won't try to post a bunch of details here (anyone serious will do their own research) but needless to say there are milestones that would better fit the word transmutation and it isn't just about a little bit of balancing to lessen urges in the moment. Keep in mind the idea is it's a fundamental change, like lead into gold. That's not exactly like stuck plumbing.
