I have a long struggle with constantly wanting to wear them. It usually happens on the weekends when I know I don't have work for a few days. My question is if anyone has gone through these same urges and conquered them. I mean is there real hope of overcoming this fetish? What are the strategies used? What about hobbies to replace the bad habit with? Does it get easier?

This may or may not be helpful:
I went from a daily panty habit (so yes, wearing them to work even . . . every day, all the time) to actually throwing away every pair that I own. In that sense, it is possibly, though I still feel strong urges to wear (and/or buy) them on occasion.
One thing that I think helped was getting really into men's underwear. There is a lot of sexy men's underwear out there! In fact, some are just as sexy or more sexy than women's underwear, and even if it's pink, or flowery or satiny, I still feel less shame from wearing them because they are in fact, men's underwear. One potential downside of this is that much of this underwear is marketed towards gay men and I often had to look at lots of very attractive and well-hung models, online, which can make things confusing. Still, I think it was a stepping stone in the right direction, and over time I have mostly weaned myself off of that kind of underwear and mostly wear boxers and boxer briefs now.
Another in-between option is that there are now several companies that offer unisex underwear. It seems that this is mostly marketed towards queer, female bodied women so it is essentially women's underwear, but with more masculine styling (i.e. thick waistbands, mostly cotton, and no lace) in solid colours or prints that tend to be more fun than girly.

What matters most is probably the question of Why you are wearing them. Men's underwear would often trigger me because it was too roomy in the "pouch". Women's underwear fit me better and was more comfortable. But the fear and shame around getting caught was what made it so addictive. Now, when I really crave to wear women's underwear, I have the unisex underwear as an option, but mostly I have gotten used to wearing plain old men's underwear.

I think to wear the panties and walk around in society is taking it a step too far. Its one thing at home during a masturbation session to put on a bra and panties and jerk off but then after you orgasm you should put that stuff in a drawer and then put on your normal mens clothing.

This is the distinction between fantasy and reality. You keep wearing panties and next thing you know you may start wearing lipstick, a wig, dress and turn into an actual cross-dresser. So dont even take things that far because that is HOW IT STARTS. So you are early on and can still "pull yourself back". I mean unless you want to become a tranny and deal with mainstream society's disapproval and scorning.

I used to wear women’s undies quite often in order to heighten my sexual stimulation. Then I’d feel shame and throw them away only to buy more.

Setting solid financial goals helped me to stop. That was the biggest factor in helping me quit. I got tired of wasting so much money on women’s undies.

I also got tired of the shame and isolation that came from acting out they way.

    I’ve stopped doing it.

It's sexual masochism and there's a thread in my profile with a method that might work. See the "information" section then "find all threads".
