Exactly. I've tried certain drugs, and all it took was one time. If you never try it, you don't know what it's like. Shit is hard to stay away from.
I would not be surprised if they have prototypes for VR sex toys for extra improved "feeling" while watching porn vids... Porn industry is going to make some good cash by future addicts...
It’s gonna be like The Matrix..99% of the population having VR-sex doll sex while a small colony of us have real sex with real partners. Scary.
True that. Good call on deciding to totally avoid the temptation. Like Odysseus warns his crew of the Sirens: That is the Island of the Sirens. Circe warned me to steer clear of it, for the Sirens are beautiful but deadly. They sit beside the ocean, combing their long golden hair and singing to passing sailors. But anyone who hears their song is bewitched by its sweetness, and they are drawn to that island like iron to a magnet. And their ship smashes upon rocks as sharp as spears. And those sailors join the many victims of the Sirens in a meadow filled with skeletons. As addicts, we would do well to heed the advice not to toy with temptation.
I've never experienced anything remotely VR, but hearing the descriptions about what VR porn is capable of today seems pretty horrific. That, on top of the new life-like "sex robot" industry, is a sure sign that we're heading straight towards a real-life Futurama episode.
Is it actually that realistic though? I read a few articles about it weeks ago, and many producers were complaining about how difficult and cost prohibitive it was to make. There's multiple cameras set up right, and apparently it's incredibly easy to have angles which are useless because part of the image is missing or doesn't align with the other cameras... I agree with others here though, I don't want to try it ever. And I don't want to buy those stupid expensive headsets to waste my time on. But from what I read at least, it's not all some are talking it up to be?
Technology tends to take a while to become mainstream, at the moment there is currently investment predominantly by the gaming industry into VR with the products many of us have seen on the market like the Oculus rift, Microsoft holo lens and Sonys offering etc but will it be like 3D TV? 3D TV never really improved things as a lot of people enjoy the novelty for a little bit but the fact is the majority of stuff we watch, the TV shows and feature films are viewed en mass in 2d because that's what we are used to and have been used to for generations. Rather than there being a demand for it and meeting the supply requirements it's a case of trying to create the demand in the first place by first producing the supply which is a lot more difficult way of doing business.
Not just The Matrix. Have you seen THX 1138? It's the film George Lucas made before he was Star Wars famous.
I'm cracking up here as I'm picturing all these people wearing oversized goggles while fucking plastic dolls.
Why? Jerking off to synthetic machines to simulate something we should with real people? Nah. I’m good not be assimilated and becoming part of The Collective.
Well I hope it's an uphill battle lol. Sorry gamers, I can understand how awesome that would be, but I do hope it struggles. It would be quite cumbersome wearing those giant headset things, and won't be much fun with a partner or friend as you can't gauge their reactions very well. I think it could very well be a fad like google glasses, remember that?
Bro I had a close call with VR porn that could have sucked me in. My friend recently got a VR headset and invited me over to try it out. In short, it tripped me out, but part of me felt slightly addicted to the feeling of being in another reality. Not sure why, but I got triggered from this, went home, and googled "VR porn" to see if it existed. I found some and it looked amazing, so I went on Amazon and put one of those cheap Google Cardboards in my cart. It was pathetic. I ended up relapsing that day, but afterwards, I felt so disgusted that the thought of going even deeper with virtual reality made me sick. I cancelled my order and never looked back.
I feel like that's already happening in Japan, with a big part of the student population playing dating sims in their free time, instead of going out socialising. I do think real sex will always remain attractive, although if people are so addicted to porn, I'm not sure if they will be able to have sex in a good way. But remember, sex is not what is important. Love is. And that's what's missing too often nowadays.
It's truly scary. However, until they can simulate the sensation of touch/feel, it'll remain a visual stimulant, which will never be as satisfying as actual sex. That said, if/when they can simulate touch, VR porn just might spell the end of society...
