  3. I'll revisit my Tissot books and get back to you asap. Mostly, though, many of those doctors of old encouraged abstinence, sometimes by seemingly excessive measure. I think more than herbs and minerals, they encouraged certain dietary changes. They noted that many of their patients with related conditions presented with emaciation and/or malnutrition. It's all quite interesting but I'll need a refresher to give you more of a certain answer.

  4. Thanks for reading. Do you experience many of the same symptoms? If so, are they constant or only during withdrawal?

Yeah, pretty depressing to read the amazon reviews of this book. Joke's on them I suppose, but I'm not laughing.

  7. Back in 2020 I posted on the effects of masturbation here:

    https://forum.nofap.com/index.php?threads/about-masturbation.286743/#post-2683565

It seems you are confirming much of that list.

Definitely avoid the SSRIs. Those are the drugs behind all of the mass shootings. In some cases, the shooters may not have been on the drugs at the time, and were suffering from their withdrawal symptoms. SSRIs lead to agitation, frustration, and inability to think clearly. They result in loss of judgment and reduced will to live. I know a doctor who has told me that he never prescribes SSRIs for men because of how they increase a man's aggressive nature. He will occasionally prescribe them for women, who seem to be affected differently, but even then, he is careful with SSRIs.

The thyroid condition may be related to other factors. Look into iodine, zinc, and selenium for starters. If your thyroid levels are low, the doctor may prescribe some thyroid supplements--but the better plan for most people is simply to encourage the health of the thyroid through dietary and lifestyle factors.

Doctors are not typically trained in lifestyle, dietary, or natural therapies. They graduate from medical school without even one course in food nutrition. The pharmaceutical companies have ingeniously planted some of their own top doctors in the schools of medicine to give the young doctors-to-be training in how to use their drugs.

I have asked doctors if it would be safe to have sex given the health of my heart, only to find the doctor to be surprised by the straightforward question, and, perhaps ignorant of the answer, virtually speechless, as if confused by the question. I don't believe most doctors have much knowledge of the effects of sexual stimulation on one's health, whether that be the natural or artificial variety.

The doctor I referenced above regarding the SSRIs is well into his 70's by now, but still practicing medicine because his patients can find help from no other doctor. He's opposed to the vaccines, and does not accept insurance because the insurance companies are essentially controlling what doctors can and cannot prescribe--basically the companies are practicing medicine without a license, via bureaucratic means.

Just curious....are your eyes also sensitive to bright lights?

In extreme cases (so this is rare), masturbation can lead to blindness. I responded to someone's incredulous response on this point here:

    https://forum.nofap.com/index.php?threads/about-masturbation.286743/#post-2683795

Your tinnitus (ringing in your ears) may be caused by weakness in the nervous system from masturbation-related enervation of your nervous energy; however, there are other potential causes, including the presence of mercury, the lack of vitamin B12, or even a bacterial infection. You can always safely supplement with vitamin B12 (use methylcobalamin--the best form of B12) without needing to see a doctor. For the others, you might need the help of a toxicologist (to chelate out the mercury) or a general practitioner or even an ear specialist for the possible ear infection. If the doctor determines it could be bacterial related, he or she may prescribe Augmentin, an amoxycillin-based antibiotic which includes clavulanic acid to help make it more effective. For an inner-ear infection, you will need to take a fairly strong dose, and for at least ten days, rather than the typical course of 5-7 days.

Judging by his educational background, the Doctor "F" to whom you refer is a Jesuit. A little research will suffice to show what they are capable of.

Thanks so much for your post. Out of curiosity, where did you get information for your EFFECTS post from 2020? Is it anecdotal and based on your own experience or did you read about the symptomology somewhere? My symptoms seem to overlap with those listed on websites said to have information that is "quackery". Thinking about it now, I think there were so many med shills on forums like NoFap and similar back in the day, mocking these websites and "warning" people that they're selling supplements and are not the real deal. I never purchased anything from any of those websites but the information was always invaluable. Everyone always seemed to be really quick to dismiss it. I never understood that.

Also, I know all about Dr. F and his ilk. I get what's going on. It's actually part of the reason my PMO habit has ramped up in the last year or so: a general feeling of hopelessness for the brainwashed human race. You might've seen my other posts in which I say that I don't drink or do drugs but I am afflicted by PMO and edging.

Thanks for the suggestions relating to my thyroid condition. I really do have to once again look into good quality sources of selenium and some antioxidants. I do take various whole food based and natural supplements but clearly it's not enough. And although I eat all organic, my diet could probably use some work as well.

  9. Most of my information can be found in two Christian books written in the 1800's. I seem to get penalized quickly in these parts for "pushing religion," perhaps on account of my username (like speeding while driving a red car), so I cannot provide those sources here. If you're interested, send me a private message and I can copy some of the text from those to you there.

  10. I'm openminded and more than willing to take a look at it. Will PM you.

Wow...reading your list of issues I'm in the same boat as you. I started getting the symptoms below about 6 years ago slowly but surely. I went to every doctor imaginable, got dozens of test and every time came back normal. Over the years I've had treatment for GERD, Chronic Lyme, and Anxiety all with really nothing to show for it. I feel just as bad or worse than I did when it started. I just now have started to notice that when I'm in a loop of PMO and Edging that I feel "better" for that time, and when I stop for a bit weather on purpose of just because It wasn't convenient I feel terrible.
    • weakness/lethargy
    • chronic fatigue
    • lightheadedness/vertigo
    • insomnia and sleep deprivation
    • watery ejaculation
    • tinnitus, other ear issues
    • low back pain
    • frequent urination
    • sensitivities to heat/cold
    • mood swings
    • muscle tremors/soreness
    • tenseness
    • inability to relax
    • headaches/migraines
    • lack of motivation
    • heart palpitations
    • dry eyes
    • dry skin
    • dry mouth
    • mouth pain
    • Sinus pain
    • Racing Heartrate

  12. Wow, there's a lot of overlap here.

I think I might be dealing with something like GERD or similar and it's been a while for me, too. I might've mentioned this in my OP but I also have autoimmune thyroiditis with ZERO history of autoimmune conditions in my family ever so it's definitely not "genetic" as most modern doctors would claim. I too have done years of different appointments, therapies, dietary changes and like you, I feel just as bad as before, sometimes worse.

And about that loop you mentioned, again, same exact thing here. I've been particularly stressed these first two months of the year, more so than in the last two years of "two weeks to flatten the curve," and I've been edging a lot and ejaculating regularly, once every 48 hours or so. When I have a routine like this, I feel like shit. But when I try to abstain, I go 3-5 days and feel even worse and oftentimes so bad that I have to relapse in order to get a bit of relief.

It's a shame that so many people still refuse to believe that a severe PMO addiction can lead to physiological problems and imbalances in the endocrine system. I've even seen so many members of this forum say that the physical symptoms of PMO abuse are all in people's heads. I suffered these symptoms for many years, and I know that it most certainly wasn't all in my head. Before I knew it was PMO causing this, I just came to the conclusion that I had some kind of adrenal imbalance and/or insufficiency after Googling my symptoms, but I had no idea how to go about fixing it. Most doctors have zero interest in discussing such things, so that was a dead end. It wasn't until 2019 that it occurred to me that my intense PMO sessions might be contributing to or causing these adrenal problems. It made perfect sense to me that getting myself all revved up with such unnatural levels of stimulation for hours on end could be burning out my adrenal function. That's when I started Googling things like "porn addiction adrenal problems" and found this forum.

Back in 2015, I was experiencing all kinds of vague and mysterious health ailments that doctors couldn't seem to figure out. I didn't even know about NoFap at this point, and I was completely ignorant of the fact that it was my addiction causing these problems. My testosterone levels were one of the first things that they tested, and the doctor told me that my levels were slightly higher than average for somebody in my age range. So of course they figured at that point that it wasn't a testosterone problem. I'm no endocrinologist, but it makes sense to me that if you have a lower androgen receptor density, then your overall levels of free T would probably be higher because it isn't being efficiently absorbed and utilized by the body. At that point, it's basically floating around in your bloodstream with nowhere to go and showing seemingly higher T levels.

One thing they did notice was that my cortisol levels were a little higher than they should be, but they didn't investigate that or even try to offer an explanation as to why they might be higher than they should be.

Once I discovered NoFap and quit PMO in June 2019, I noticed that my health problems were gradually disappearing one by one as the months went by. And now, after almost three years on NoFap with only a handful of relapses, most of the problems that I used to suffer are completely gone, and the few that remain have diminished considerably and are continuously improving. My voice is deeper, my body hair and facial hair are much more dense and coarse, I can gain muscle mass rapidly, and my face looks more masculine. Back when I was constantly fapping, I kind of had a round baby face with very little definition, but my jawline and cheekbones are more pronounced now. Even my demeanour has changed; I now find myself acting a lot more mature and stoic than I used to.

Oh, and if anybody is wondering what my symptoms were, I'll copy and paste them here from another thread if you'd like to compare:

    Physical:

    • Frequent nausea.
    • Various digestive problems (some quite severe).
    • Constant hunger pangs and stomach growling (even after recently eating a full meal).
    • Inexplicable pains all over my body.
    • Hot flashes and frequent sweating.
    • Extreme insomnia and sleep disturbances.
    • Rapid heartbeat that would never seem to slow down (even when relaxed and sedentary).
    • Shallow breathing and occasional hyperventilating.
    • Always low on energy, like I never felt rested or fully charged no matter how much sleep I got.
    • A constant wired-out and on-edge feeling. "Tired but wired," as people with adrenal problems describe it.
    • Very frequent urination (actually worsened during my initial withdrawal period, but 100% gone now).
    • Tinnitus (and a weird itchy feeling inside my ears).
    • Weak immune system and frequent infections.
    • Occasional vertigo and dizziness.
    • Vision problems.
    Mental:
    • Frequent depression.
    • Occasional anxiety and paranoia.
    • Night terrors and nightmares.
    • Occasional depersonalization and derealization.
    • Emotional numbness.
    • Anhedonia.
    • Brain fog and generally feeling dipshitty all the time.
    • Often feeling introverted and unsociable.
    • Lack of creativity.

  14. Again, just like with the response of @jdubz8419 before yours, I see so much overlap here with regard to what I'm dealing with.

I started searching for my symptoms and whatnot back about a decade ago. I was led to websites like ActionLove, HerbalLove and Cure-Erectile-Dysfunction (all of these were said to be filled with "quackery" because one or two of them sold supplements and similar products). To this day, I keep information I've found on those websites because I find it to be invaluable. Like you, though, I was also led to websites like those of Dr. Lam who goes on and on about Adenal Fatigue and its causes. Then the majority of other search results were pages on WebMD and other owned and controlled medical websites that linked symptoms like those I was having to Thyroid disorders. I was eventually diagnosed with auto immune thyroid but when I think about it and read posts here, I think countless guys on here would've been diagnosed with the same had they been tested the way I was. The diagnosing factor for me was a Thyroid Antibody test in which my TPO levels came back "slightly high" but apparently conclusive enough.

Regarding your question about T levels and whatnot, I truly don't know. But I can tell you this: I've had similar tests done and they showed all sorts of weird results. For instance, I remember seeing totally FLIPPED Cortisol levels (high when they should be low, low when they should be high), high Estradiol and my Dopamine and Serotonin weren't normal, either. I'm going to try to find that paper now and maybe, if you or others here are interested, I can somehow post actual results.

I'm going to paste your own symptom list and quickly remark on my experience with each:

    Physical:
    • Frequent nausea. (had it the other day)
    • Various digestive problems (had it all along but nothing too significant)
    • Constant hunger pangs and stomach growling (frequent, had it last night)
    • Inexplicable pains all over my body. (somewhat frequent, had it last night)
    • Hot flashes and frequent sweating. (more frequent when abstaining 3-5 days)
    • Extreme insomnia and sleep disturbances. (every single night)
    • Rapid heartbeat that would never seem to slow down (frequent but RHR is ok 50-75% of the time)
    • Shallow breathing and occasional hyperventilating. (sometimes)
    • Always low on energy, like I never felt rested or fully charged no matter how much sleep I got. (every day, slightly easier at night)
    • A constant wired-out and on-edge feeling. "Tired but wired," as people with adrenal problems describe it. (24 hours a day, every day)
    • Very frequent urination (actually worsened during my initial withdrawal period, but 100% gone now). (100%, to the point I probably don't hydrate enough)
    • Tinnitus (and a weird itchy feeling inside my ears). (all the time, including right now)
    • Weak immune system and frequent infections. (this is the only one I don't really have)
    • Occasional vertigo and dizziness. (frequent)
    • Vision problems. (can you elaborate on this?)
    Mental:
    • Frequent depression. (evaluating my life, failures, lack of accomplishment, etc)
    • Occasional anxiety and paranoia. (Frequent)
    • Night terrors and nightmares. (more so recently)
    • Occasional depersonalization and derealization. (occasional)
    • Emotional numbness. (maybe sometimes)
    • Anhedonia. (I think this kind of comes with the territory)
    • Brain fog and generally feeling dipshitty all the time. (yes)
    • Often feeling introverted and unsociable. (yes)
    • Lack of creativity. (yes)
I don't know, man. I just continue to be in a really bad place. I think my body and mind are completely exhausted. I hope there's some help for me after all this.

pmo certainly can't be explained by the dopaminergic system alone. The body is an incredibly complex system. The sympathetic system stays active for a long time while you do pmo for hours. Many hormones are constantly being secreted. The heart beats fast for a long time. What have we done to our body!
I'll write the symptoms I'm experiencing due to pmo. I'm sure they are caused by pmo. Because I had the chance to test it in many series. symptoms disappeared and came back with relapse.
-anxiety disorder (constantly fast heartbeat, concentration and memory problems, startle from sound, startle from images such as various insects) Anxiety is the root cause of many of my symptoms. The flood of dopamine is wreaking havoc on the amygdala.
-dry eyes, stinging and blurred vision
    - excessive dryness of the skin, especially hands and face.
    - cold feet (independent of weather conditions)
-Due to anxiety, there is constant cortisol pressure. This causes lubrication especially in the belly area. Constant stress is very bad. It is difficult to lose weight, it is easy to gain.
-Erection quickly at the slightest trigger.Immediate wetness shortly after erection. This is not ejaculation, pleasure juice. It comes very quickly.
-My face is very pale and lifeless.
-When the pmo dose increased, I felt swelling and lisp in my tongue. I could hardly pronounce some words. It was definitely getting harder to speak.
-I feel like my nostrils and sinuses are swollen. I have trouble breathing through my nose.

My set of symptoms is such a close match to this list that I won't even bother trying to say "Yes / No" to each. It is a definite syndrome, and I've seen a fair few others.

A couple of things I have been tested for: Cortisol - like @kopykat below, mine were flipped when I had this tested - low in morning, high later in the day. Magnesium - I was tested for this twice, several years apart. Both results were so low that the lab that did the tests added a note to say they were concerned for my health. In between tests, I tried every oral supp I could find, and even injected it for a few months, but nothing seemed to work. However, this was years ago, before I realized I had a PMO problem - so it was kind of like trying to fill a leaky bucket.

This is why I'm generally against the idea of supplementation or use of prescription medication where possible - you have to stop PMO'ing first - and that's the hard part!

  17. This is an interesting and somewhat valid point that I feel also needs a counterpoint for consideration.

How well is one able to make choices with a compromised health situation--especially when it is the nervous system affected? One's mental acuity depends on the health of the nervous system, and this means anything one can do--even if that means dropping some supplements into a leaky bucket--should be of some good. It's not "wasteful" if it helps one have better willpower. There is, also, a potential placebo effect. If one thinks it will help him or her conquer his/her lustful passions, it can be a step in the right direction.

Magnesium is important to muscle relaxation, stress relief, and ability to sleep well at night. The opposite of each of these things, of course, will tend to strengthen the addiction. My conclusion would be that, while not the full answer, the supplements can only be of benefit in the end.

    My two cents.

I don't know what method you did the magnesium test, my friend. But it is difficult to detect magnesium with a blood test. Only 1 percent of the magnesium in the body is found in the blood. The rest is in the muscle and bone tissue. The blood test may not be reliable. For magnesium, the intracellular magnesium ratio should be checked.
There are many types of magnesium in magnesium supplementation. Magnesium oxide, which is generally prescribed, is useless. It causes diarrhea. It is used in the treatment of constipation.
The most effective magnesium types for the brain are acetyl taurate and bisglycinate. malate can also be added. Magnesium supplements containing these three or the first two are effective.
Excess is easily excreted from the body. It is a supplement that can be used safely. Due to the poor quality of today's soil, most people can no longer get enough magnesium from plants.

  20. Only in large doses, though. The body will absorb smaller doses, but because magnesium tends to relax muscles, and will also relax the bowels, it can act as a laxative. If 500 mg. or less is taken in a single dose, this is unlikely. This is one reason why magnesium is so safe as a supplement--any excess just gets eliminated.
