Problems with sleep due to NoFap?

  1. I've been experiencing quite serious problems with sleep and I wonder what you guys (and girls) think about it.

    So, I've been doing NoFap for around 3 years and I suffer from problems with sleep and I wondered if they might be recovery-related. First pattern I noticed was that usually when I start the streak after couple of days I have trouble with sleeping at night, more dreams, more awakenings and overall poorer quality of sleep. At one point I even had straight up insomnia, but that was due to intense stress. I'm on a big streak now and I expected my sleep to stabilize, but I still wake up several times at night, mostly in the morning (much earlier before the alarm than necessary). I'm quite horny then (with morning wood) and sometimes can't fall asleep, even though I still feel tired. Very often I feel tired and sleep-depraved during the day. I'm not sure whether these things are recovery-related, but I guess going on without orgasm for weeks could trigger some changes in hormone production and therefore sleep quality as well.

    Haven't watched porn in 125 days. Haven't O'd in 37 days.

    So my question is whether someone experienced something similar and maybe resolved the isssue. Btw, I am pretty religious about my sleep. I try to make it as regular as possible, don't use devices about half an hour before bed, take a hot shower and keep my sheets clean. I've also been exercising pretty regularly in the last month or so.

    So, can anyone relate to this situation? I'd appreciate any help...

    You still indulge in masturbation and edging . Which means your long streak worth 0 in terms of recovery of your health-you do watch your own porn nudity every time you masturbate and edge And yes it fucks up your hormonal system and brain. You really need to study about negative effects of masturbation and stop being ignorant.

    I go through periods of experiencing some similar things. Generally lower quality of sleep, waking up not feeling refreshed, waking up too early and thus feeling tired during the day. I cannot say for certain if its NoFap related but I would not be shocked if it has some part to play with it. We are at roughly similar points during our streaks so perhaps it is one of the symptoms of flatline? Assuming you are not waking up and needing to use the bathroom as well, it might be worth trying a food or drink with calming properties. Personally I sometimes use camomile tea, its not the nicest tasting but it can relax you, it also helps with anxiety. Peppermint tea is also pretty good.

  4. Yes, I relate. I would advise you to try herbal medicine for getting calm and better sleep - herbs like melissa, valerian root, hop, lavender, motherwort. You can mix them.
    Also try St. Johns Wort, it was very helpful for me to gain more calm, this herb is kind of natural inhibitor.
    And Ashwagandha (kind of adaptogen) was very helpful for me.

  5. I don't edge at all and haven't masturbated or orgasmed in 37 days.
     
  6. I'm not sure whether I would call it a flatline, but sometimes I suffer from depressive moods and then my sleep is even more disturbed. Usually it's not because I have to use the bathroom. Thanks for recommendations, I'll give 'em a try!

    Then they are the returning symptoms(of PMO) you are experiencing just carry on with your routine and they will pass.

  9. First 25 days of no pm I was having trouble with sleeping too. Now from the point of view that I see it, it is natural. I released a ton of energy (from m) but I havent learn to master it and direct it properly. So when I went to bed I couldn't sleep because of that unused energy.
    I believe that firstly you have to detouch completely your body but most importantly your thoughts your mind and soul from m. Completely. No touching, no edging, no fantasies, no pc, no useless thinking, no daydreaming (=mental masturbation) etc.
    As you do that it is equally important to learn to direct this energy to new, more healthy for your soul targets. Those targets in my opinion, should include women. After all you are not a saint, you cannot go no pmo forever. I see the no pm extremely helpful for my life, but the end target for me, is to build a healthy sexuality with women. Otherwise no pm even for years, seems pointless.
    This is what works for me. And it has worked in the past. But every man is different.
