Would like to see more questionnaires in the future if it may help us understand the nature of p use. Would like to note there are questions that are asked more than once and some have spelling errors. I feel there may be value in including open ended questions rather than only agree/don’t agree.

I've been informed of an issue that I need to address about the survey.

On the first page of the survey, there are two options that must be selected in order to progress to the questions. You have to consent to participate, and you have to be 18 years of age or older. If these two options are not selected, you will be taken to the end of the survey.

It is set up this way for a reason, I promise!

Thank you for letting me know. This study has been revised multiple times prior to approval so there is bound to be a few things that were overlooked. I will go through it and fix them.

I totally agree! This survey originally had open ended questions at the end, but unfortunately, they did not make the final cut. This is something I do plan to do in the future though.

    Thank you for your feedback.

If anyone has any questions or comments, please feel free to share them. Thanks!

Done. I just don't agree with that "seeking something I desire" part, because porn is not something most porn-addicts desire, rather they feel more like forced to use it, like an actual drug. So I suggest just changing that to just "porn".

Seeking something you desire= you are looking for a drug ( dopamine) and porn/sex/novelty is the way your brain makes it. Just because you don’t desire porn doesn’t cause you to stop. You are just using porn to get what you desire.

    Thank you for your feedback.

The way it is currently worded has gone through multiple tests to ensure validity and reliability in the assessment. I am unable to change the wording of it, as it would reduce the validity of the assessment.

I do understand where you are coming from and I will make a note of that for the future. Thank you!

Something else that has been brought to my attention:

You only get one chance to take the survey. If you’ve opened the link, once it is closed you can’t access it again. It is designed that way to prevent people from taking the survey more than one time.

You CAN open the link and keep it open if you don’t want to complete it all in one sitting. Qualtrics gives you about a week to complete it from the time you open it until it expires, so please be aware of that.

Thank you again for participating in the survey, your responses are valuable.

Broken link has been fixed. If you tried to take it before and weren’t able to, you should be able to take it now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Just filled this in. I'm so excited that this is being done. There's tons of research about porn addiction but most of what I have seen seems to be from the neurological perspective. I have not seen much research on recovery. There are some really basic questions we only have anecdotal answers too (is a hard mode reboot quicker than normal mode reboot? for what proportion of addicts is a 90 day reboot enough? what proportion of porn addicts successfully quit? questions like those). Even if you are not tackling those questions head-on @ForTheResearch it is fantastic to see an academic doing this research. Good luck. Please do start a thread referencing your results when you are done with the analysis and write-up, and I really hope this leads to further questions and studies for you.

    Thank you @kropo82
I'm hoping to get more full responses. There's a whole lot of surveys that are not filled out past the beginning, or barely filled out. Currently there are over 300 that are "in progress" with around 150 of those closing out in 2 days whether they're done or not (qualtrics rules. You get 7 days from the time you open it to complete it). Based on the statistics of assessment completion in how surveys are administered, I knew I was taking some risks with this one given the amount of questions involved.

Of course, after this launched, I thought of more questions that should have been added that could have helped add more insight.Even if I had the option now to add them I feel it would be way too many questions though. Perhaps they can be used in a future study.

I will absolutely do this if I'm allowed to. I've had a whole lot of people asking for the results so I will do what I can to provide them ASAP.

  14. Due to @kropo82 I landed on this thread. I just finished the survey. I'm also interested on seeing what results you get.

All the best with your work! :)
