Recently late at night I found out that anal madturbation can indeed stimulate the nerve endings of the anus very well.

But after a few minutes I quickly stopped after realizing what I was doing. I Did not orgasm neither was I watching porn.

Does this count as a relapse? Were all those days of not fapping for nothing? I wasn't quite sure if anal masturbation would count as relapse.

But the benefits gained over a period of around 25 days of not fapping don't just magically disappear after this, do they?

Yes, it does count as a relapse. You don't even have to ask that...
And it's all experience, its not magic neither "benefits gained". The only real benefits you've gained are the days lived without the addiction.

I get it now, I have relapsed in the sense of failing quitting the addiction, but what has occured was simply a dopamine rush sent to the brain, which could have also me been smoking a joint, or drinking beer with friends. So yes, I relapsed in the sense of quitting my addiction, but the other things like more confidence and higher testosterone and more energy etc. Still remain.. and that's all I really care about, being a better version of the past me.

If this was just a one-time discovery and you quickly stopped it, I wouldn't reset what you had as a 25-day no MO stretch. Move on, and don't engage anal stimulation anymore.

It was rather edging, I would say. And no, even a full relapse is not removing all benefits you made earlier.

It's okay, it was on my first try anyway, I realised that I've relapsed in this way before, by edging. But i never really quite understood "the rules" of NoFap. To clear myself from confusion and to never masturbate again in a whole, I counted it as a relapse and my new start date is 4th of April. I never cared so much about the days anyway, as I do it more for myself.

I've got the right mindset now l, I know whats right and wrong, and I'm 100% confident I'll reach day 90 on the second try as i never had problems with not looking at porn, and I can without problems do the same for touching myself either.

Well as others have said it is most definitely a lapse, you need to be careful, for when you pull away from habits you will find new ways of acting out and act is if they're different. There is no difference, it's escalation, and the more you escalate the further you will have to go for that next high, be aware and be honest. I hope you are doing well, good luck!
