How many of you metalheads have seen this:

If you listen to metal the name phil anselmo must be a familiar one. This isnt exactly PMO but he speaks precisely about addiction in general aswell in the interview at loyola university.Watching this helped me a lot during "down" moments during my reboot journey.

hey, ya master of reality is an awesome album, i like all the songs on that album, yes "After forever" is a kick ass track, also "children of the grave" stands out for me, sounds really heavy for that Era! lucky you getting a chance to see them it must have been so cool, i am jealous!

as for my favourite album i really cant pick one out of the first 5 as i think they are all excellent, although i did like "never say die" also,

and yes i agree "sabbath bloody sabbath" was a master piece!

As for which album is better between Blizzard or heaven and hell i really cant say as both have some serious songs and im glad both were created!if Ozzy hadnt left the band then maybe neither album would have been written and that isnt worth contemplating both albums are too precious to pit against each other!

Since i have heard someone saying " Metallica is hard rock ", not refering to Load and Reload, but to all of their albums ... I really don't know anymore :D

It's a little subjective if you think about it. Like is there a line that seperates rock from heavy metal ? But since there isn't an infinite number of bands that would play "heavier and heavier", from rock to heavy metal ( in other words, one band must have sounded heavy enough to be considered " heavy metal " ), probably Black Sabbath.

Or Justin Bieber ... he really nailed the vegetarian grindcore back in the 30's :p
Come at me metal elitists

I think myself that it was Black sabbath, first song on the first album really was much more distorted and darker than anything done before that time, but as i love sabbath i would be bias, but i wondered if any of you guys know of anything as heavy before 1970 etc

but i think you are right heaviness is in the ear of the beholder i guess, one mans metal is another mans rock,

but i am in agreement that Biebers veggie grindcore album was as heavy as fuck , so heavy they had to ban that shit in the 30s and put him in a time machine and send him into our present, but the time portal changed him, he aint as heavy as he used to be! its a damn shame as he could have headlined at Wacken Festival along side Canibal corpse and Dimmu Borgir, but alas it was not meant to be :D

A metal head is not quantified by how much metal he or she listens to, its is quantified by the very fact that you listen at all, therefore you are just as metal as anyone else!

cool song by the way, i enjoyed that!

  14. I enjoy alot of metalcore, am much more picky when it comes to more traditional metal subgenres. I know some diehard metalheads who don't really view metalcore as true metal lol.

Any Metalheads here have an opinion of metalcore, is it true metal or not hehe?

Oh I will be posting many more songs just hoping to resolve this first.

Just don't care about labels. Weather it's metal, core, jazz, vegetarian blackened pornogrind ( or should i say PMOgrind ), if you like it, it's good for you. I don't even know the true definition of "true metal" lol. Long haired guys growling and worshiping satan ? I dunno :D

To be honest i dont even know what metalcore is really? without all the labels etc i would just hear it as "heavy guitar based music" as far as im concerned if its got a heavy vibe to it and its not bullshit pop music then i will probably like it, im a traditional metal head based only on the stuff i grew up with but in general i refuse to follow genres or scenes etc, if it sounds good to me then i will probably like it, i used to buy metal hammer magazine and follow all the latest metal news and reviews but that was nearly 15 years ago and ive met so many walking metal encyclopedia type people farting on about this genre and that genre and whats "real metal" and whats not that i just dont give a shit anymore, to me Metal is metal no matter what type it is, i might not like a certain band or song but im not going to pontificate what is true metal or not, ill leave that to self obsessed "critique" wannabes, at the end of the day if you like some music and it makes you wanna rock out then to hell with everyone elses opinion, the very true essence of "metal" is that you never follow the herd, you do your own thing and say "fuck off" to anyone who tries to tell you otherwise!

I'm a long time metalhead (10+ years) and true metalcore shits all over "metalcore" as what it's known by today. Both versions aren't really metal persay, the original is metallic hardcore, while the new stuff is just watered down metal, or heavier hard rock. Same goes with screamo. Screamo isn't that crap you hear in hot topic, it's a mix of hardcore and grindcore with elements of post rock for a lot of the bands. Examples so you guys don't think I'm talking out of my ass:

    Metalcore:

    Screamo:

My personal favorite genre of metal is Post-Metal, with my favorite bands being ISIS, Russian Circles, Cult of Luna, Rosetta and Neurosis. On that note Russian Circles has a new album out soon and will be touring again! Seen them twice and plan on going again, highly recommend seeing them live!

Also, question for a lot of you guys here. I noticed that the longer and deeper I got into my addiction to pmo, the heavier and darker the metal was that I listened to. I started off with the generic stuff (Lamb of God, Metallica, etc), but slowly over time my tastes went towards some pretty fucked up music, such as brutal deathmetal, grindcore and black metal. For a period of time my favorite band was Cattle Decapitation, lol. Anyone else here feel like as they pmo'd and disconnected with society that tastes like this got worse? I'm one of the nicest guys out there (in fact TOO nice), so when people asked me what type of music I listened to and I told them Death and Black metal it always surprised them and felt kind of shameful, just like when I pmo'd.

It's funny, now my tastes have gone towards EDM/House and rap haha. Also my new favorite band is Brand New, sooooo good.
