That's a pretty "brain-washed by the media" type of thinking. This false sense of normalcy, and how every perpetrator of horrific crimes is immediately dehumanized and made into some kind of monster on the news, while the "normal" people are reassured that something like this could never happen to them. Which is exactly what Ted Bundy was talking about and making fun of in his interviews. He was "normal" too at some point, and he said again and again that there is no one single experience that made him who he was; no black and white, no clear-cut before and after. It just slowly happened to him over the course of many years and he was frightened and didn't understand it himself. But as is evident, his urges were stronger than him. I'm a firm believer in the fact that no one is born evil though.

 

I would describe myself as a heavy sex / porn addict from an unusually early age on, but I never really bought into the whole idea that porn addiction can change one's sexual orientation. In my opinion - and I'm probably gonna get a lot of shit for saying this - the addicts who end up watching porn that allegedly does not represent their sexual orientation need to take a long hard look at themselves. I think their heavy porn use just brings out subconscious / repressed predispositions. In this way, porn addiction can be said to loosen them up in a similar fashion to uninhibited alcohol-induced states.

 

I don't know man, that's like saying "can wearing shoes escalate to wearing Nike's?" I don't think it's that simple.

I'm making a structural argument here, not a semantic one. You've completely misrepresented the meaning of my statement. But I'm so sorry, let me hold your hand and retype it in a way that you can't POSSIBLY misunderstand or misconstrue my meaning.

My original point was that child porn is a subset of porn. But watching child porn is not an escalation of porn, because that implies some sort of hierarchical ordering, which I assert there is none, just like there is none with shoes and Nike brand shoes. A person may wear Nike's at any point in their life regardless of which shoes they wore before and which shoes they will wear in the future. Similarly, child porn is not some inevitable result or final stage of watching porn, but completely determined by an individual's preference. In order to affirm OP's question, we would have to have strong evidence that there is a hierarchical ordering of porn based on categories, wherein child porn is ranked above adult porn. I doubt we will ever see such evidence, so the phrasing of the title is bogus, which was all that I wanted to illustrate.

Now, to address your question/implied statement:
Consuming porn in a general context doesn't inherently create victims because you can film you and your partner fucking and then watch it later, assuming all parties involved are consenting, of age, and consciously in favor of having sex and filming it and aware of the possible consequences of such an action. Consuming child porn is a conscious decision that requires both the intent to consume child exploitation and the knowledge that children are being exploited.

Wearing shoes in a general context may create victims if the shoes aren't vegan and humanely sourced (and even then, victims are still probably created, but forget all of that). But let's say that we have a company (Nike) which you are claiming is unethically sourced. Many consumers do not have the knowledge of exploitation caused by the manufacture of these shoes, NOR do they have the intention to subsidize exploitation. So the equivalency you are trying to make is a false one.

I'd argue that it isn't obvious whether there is some sort of hierarchical relationship between "vanilla" porn and CP, and that it likely differs between different people. Many people on this forum talk about how their addictions caused them to seek out more and more taboo categories (animal-related, homosexuality etc.) in order to keep getting the same dopamine rush, implying the existence of some hierarchy in terms of "tabooness" or degree of excitement.

I wouldn't doubt that CP might just happen to be what somebody is into to begin with, but I also don't see why CP could not possibly be part of the more taboo categories that an addict transitions into liking.

Hi guys, if you experience an urge to post spiteful content, I'd recommend leaving the thread alone and occupy your mind with something positive.

 

I have always been into hentai, but in the past year or so I started reading something called Shotacon, which is essentially child porn. But the shotacon I was into was little boys having sex with older women. So I was not attracted to the child aspect as much as I was the older women aspect and imagining me as a younger boy having sex with these older women. But still, it was quite alarming and a reason why I chose to get serious about Nofap.

I do not condone being attracted to children, I think there is something very psychologically wrong with people who are and cannot think of a scenario where I would be in that position. However the fact that I am into shotacon at all is not my favorite thing about me even though I was looking at it from a different perspective. Circumstances don't change just because it is an older woman with a younger boy, it is still the same thing in my opinion.

This was one of the first struggles I had during the first time I started watching porn back in 2012. I had teacher fantasies so the older women aspect attracted me a bit and I watched clips of softcore on Dailymotion. This was before hardcore starting attracting me. I was just watching Dailymotion and I came across clips of movies that had plots that centered on older women hooking up with younger boys. I was just 14 at the time but being older also more mature I now know it is wrong either way. Thankfully I never had the desire to look at actual child porn.
