Energy Problem

Discussion in 'Fitness' started by LOSEmyselftoSAVEmyself, Mar 24, 2022.

  1. I lost 100 lbs in 2018 during my first reboot.
I lost it the old fashioned way: diet and exercise.
    I was obsessed.

There was an advantage of the massive energy in my first reboot.
But by 2020, I've been flatlined.
I have all the know-how about fitness you could want.
I have a free gym membership, and I know about dieting like a pro.
But I have no energy or motivation anymore.

The problem with motivation is the lack of rewards.
The energy is the MAJOR problem, in this flatlined state.
With natural energy, you can do anything.
Even when the rewards are hard to get or vague, you can work on it with energy.
    But mine's gone.
Also, I have a lot of apathy.

Any ideas or thoughts? Do you have the same problem?
I'm 48 and I'd like to hear from guys around my age,
who are deep in reboots or streaks.

I run into the same problem. I actually started back in the gym today. What are your physical goals?

  3. Nice picture of the Lord, btw.

My goal weight is 160, and I'm just over 200.

I just have no energy or motivation. It feels like depression.

  4. Update, if anybody is reading this:

I think the energy is about sugar, snacks or chemical additives.
Yesterday, I was taking a break and I laid down and ate a bag of Bugels.
I felt awful! It was like taking a sedative but I also felt sick.
It passed in a few hours.

By the evening, I noticed I didn't drink a second cup of coffee, and I had a normal dinner.
The sugar in the Bugels and the coffee had drained me!
    Dopamine strikes again.

By the evening my brain was clear and I had some energy back.
My diet might be the reason for the energy problem, and as I write this, I have yet more energy.
I had a very light breakfast, no coffee.
I need to purge out my system. I need to restart this diet.

You may be on to something there. When I drink soda or eat a lot of candy and chips I get the same way.

  6. Yes because I didn't eat that stuff yesterday, nor drink coffee and I feel a lot better.
    More clear-minded and more energy.

  7. I came up with a new thing, which is to just walk for 30+ minutes a day.

Coupled with my diet, I am starting to feel better.

  8. Processed foods are the worst, yet every gas station and grocery store in this country (the USA) is chock full of them. We're slowly killing ourselves with this crap. Thanks corn, soy and dairy lobbyists!

I've been using this app called Fooducate for the past two years. Not only is it useful for pointing out how highly processed some food products are and steers you towards a better alternative, it can also provide you with a wake-up call to just how bad fast food really is for you. For instance, the profile for a Wendy's Jr Hamburger states it has 21% of the DV for Saturated Far, 33% for Trans Fat (!), 13% of Cholesterol, and 27% for Sodium. It also says it contains sugar alcohols and controversial ingredients like DATEM, known to caused ADHD in children.

  10. You are preaching to the choir. The main issue is sugar and corn syrup.

I don't eat at restaurants too often. The problem for me was candy and ice cream, but now I am on my third day without.

My brain and body are clearing up already. More energy, optimism.
