I am 27 and have been watching porn since I was 14. It didn't ever seem to be a problem until the last few years. I am late for social occasions, I feel awkward in the company of real people and I feel uninspired by my girlfriend. I have anxieties and fears so I try to spend more time alone. Which then allows me to watch more porn...

I have managed to go maybe 4-5 days without watching porn in recent months but I will succumb and then the 'chaser effect' kicks in. I will watch 4 days worth in an afternoon!

My main trigger point is always as I wake up. I feel a bit anxious about the day ahead so I do something familiar to 'calm' me down.

But I now realise that it is the addiction causing the anxiety to some extent and it is stopping me from moving on and up in my life. This is why I must become a Fapstronaut and why I set myself an initial goal of hitting 90 days. A period I have not abstained since my teens.

I have plans to change my routine -meditate first thing in the morn and last thing at night, increase my exercise regime, be around others as much as I can, try not to stress about work or other things in my life, have a positive attitude and be more socially aware. Outside of these things, I know I will feel the urge often for the newness of the latest scenes online. When I reach for my browser and can't seem to control it - I will be heading to NoFap for inspiration from your stories and battles.

Proud to finally be on the ship with you all!

Welcome, you have already taken a huge step by admitting your addiction!

I am a 26 year old guy myself and I'm practically in the same boat as you are. Every morning I wake up being anxious for no reason, then my mind starts wondering about the day ahead. What I've seen helps for me is the first thing I do upon getting up is drink a glass of water and wash my face, wakes me up and helps me a bit to get rid of the anxiety. I just came off of a 42 day PMO free streak, on some morings I woke up relaxed and happy, other mornings I had massive depression. Don't worry about these things though, as these are just the withdrawel symptoms.

It's great that your keeping yourself busy and forming new routines, be careful of taking on too much at a time and thereby losing motivation. There is a lot of info on this forum, I hope you can take the time to sit and look through them. You will see that there are guys out there struggling with the exact same things as you are, it really motivates us to know there are people out there going through the same things as we are.

All the best to you, remember to check in regularly. We're here for you, if you have any questions be sure to ask away. There are lots of people willing to help or give advice!

Thanks, M Beets! Sounds like you're in control. I've been taking your advice with the water first thing in the morn.

  4. Welcome on board! :)

This No PM journey will not be easy but worth the effort. I see a lot of sincerity on your side and this is needed in the first place. Relapses may come, urges come and go, but the only failure is to give up and run away. Stay strong. As a human being you have your strongness and your weakness - always focus on what you really want: true happinees, free of addiction. Restart if necessary and be proud and grateful you are the person you are. All is well.
