I've been doing the nofap since february and let's just say i have not succeeded yet im 15 and i understand that i have my whole life ahead and i have time to master quitting my addiction but if i may ask to the people who have succeeded in nofap and have actually gotten past the 3 week mark how did you manage and what did you to occupy yourself?

(note) i also do have social anxiety so going out in general to large public areas is usually a problem and i find that they number 1 way for me to get rid of my anxiety is through nofap as i feel it is what caused it 3 years ago i was confident and would misbehave alot now that im 15 im much more quiet and timid and i wouldnt say it is all down to maturity so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.:emoji_thumbsup:

Three things were crucial for me:

    1) Filters/blocks. I had to have some kind of filters to keep me off porn, otherwise I'm like an alcoholic who's trying to get sober while sitting in a bar. My iPhone is totally locked down (I can't access the internet on it, but my apps do 99% of what I need a smartphone to do); I use Covenant Eyes on my desktop and laptop, and those have been very, very helpful. It's best if you don't have control over your filters ... or if you do, at least use something like Covenant Eyes, where your accountability partners will be notified when you make changes to your settings.

    2) Positive activities. I can't just sit alone in my room and try to resist the temptation. If that's my method, I'll fail every single time. I actually needed positive stuff to do instead. Reading a book, studying, exercise, connecting with a friend (in real life, not on your phone), hobbies ... anything that brings you joy or makes you feel like you're doing something meaningful.

    3) Involving other people. I can't fight this addiction if I'm the only person in my life who knows about it. I have a good number of trustworthy people who know my story and know what I struggle with. Some of them have the same struggles, and we're able to lean on one another and share our experiences. NoFap is a good start for connecting with people, but no online forum can hold a candle to real, flesh-and-blood human beings. It helps to look another person in the eyes, share your story, and realize they're still there listening to you (as opposed to running away and screaming). It really helps to reduce the shame of the addiction.

If you can start doing those three things, you'll start making much greater improvement.
