    Hello,

I just wonder how long the PMO recovery process is for me. I have been an addict for 10+ years. Every time I relapse, I spiral into social anxiety and fatigue. I feel like crap the entire day. I need change. Has anyone had a similar experience?

    Thank you

there is no specific time as everyones journey is unique. Time spent addicted is certainly not the only factor. Genetics, how you use, time spent, if you are sexually active, how many relapses you have had and many other factors play a role in recovery length.

In most cases people can see significant progress within 3 months. In some other cases 6 - 24 months can be the recovery time.

I remember reading around a year ago somewhere on these forums that a rough correlation could be derived as follows:

For every year you spent under the influence of addiction, 2 months of recovery are added to your recovery time.

This is by no means based on any medical or scientific knowledge; just anecdotal information derived from one man's experience and backed by a few others. It may give you a rough idea of what to expect.

@kropo82 might know about it because he was in that thread, I think. If not, pardon the random tag please, because this was quite some time ago and I could be wrong.

I hope that's not the case, because I've been watching porn for at least 7 years before starting my current streak. 14 months is way longer than what I expected :/

I don't mean to be a sour puss, but honestly it will probably take longer than just a extra two months on top of each year of addiction. I'd assume it will take at least half the number of years you've spent binging porn to nearly fully recover, that means weird fantasies and all you've gotten from porn being nigh non existent. This is also assuming you're not searching out or constantly engaging in porn substitutes. I.E: Constantly and purposely reading about the fetish and such you picked up from porn or purposely entertaining the fantasies when they pop up in your head. That being said, you'll definitely feel a tremendous benefit just 60 days in as you'll feel more in control of yourself than when you're knee deep in the addiction.

This was encouraging despite the harsher perspective.

Yeah, try not to be too discouraged. We're in a age of instant gratification where we want everything now, but that's not the way the real world works. The journey is very important and you'll notice the chains of this self made hell getting lighter day by day. Just stay humble and vigilant cause it might try to reel you back in at unexpected times. There will definitely be days when you feel you've overcame the addiction and that's when you should be most wary.

I watched porn for over 10 years. I feel that I’m recovering quickly. 2 weeks bad urges, 2 weeks flatline, now I’m coming out of flatline and my urges are still there but they are extremely weak and really not a threat to my streak. Also have been taking much better care of myself and fixing some emotional problems I had not dealt with. I’m only on day 30 so we will see how things go, but so far very well!

That’s good to know that in 3 months, significant progress ca be made. But I’m already assuming that I probably need to do a minimum of 5+ years of NoFap to be fully recovered from the negative effects of the highly addictive pornography.

What’s the flatline like? I don’t believe I have experienced this. Is it Porn addiction withdrawals?

Rehabilitation process takes much longer than we expect, for some it's 1 week, 1 month and if the case is really serious and it could go for 1 year also. Say for example, in my case I have been the victim of this PMO thing since 2012 and now as I have stopped doing it for so many good reasons I feel like I have to give myself a mininum of 1 year to heal with all that stuff which is still there inside my brain. So, just be positive and listen, the early you start the faster you get results.

I notice that most of my relapses come from my smartphone. You can hide with a smartphone and be discreet. I looked up the stats for it as well. Most porn traffic comes from mobile phones. I’ll set up content blockers for the internet and see how it works out.

I don't know, I'm only on day 3 myself. Been a porn addict for over five years now, masturbating numerous times a day. I'm having a pretty bad craving today, but am determined to stay strong.

The first 2 weeks are super intense urges, constantly fighting those urges to not masturbate and watch porn. Then I went into flatline, which basically means a complete absence of sexual desires. No errections, no morning wood, no urges to masturbate. It makes it easy to manage your streak because you dont have any urges to masturbate. But your emotional state can be a bit weird. You might have some really down days where all you want to do is hide from the world. Or you might feel extremely lonely and all you want is someone to talk to. So while flatline eliminates most of the urges to masturbate, instead you are extremely emotionally exposed. And you might just decide to masturbate because of this extreme loneliness you feel, so its not all safe. You will know it when its happening.

That’s good to know. I’ll know when the flatline hits. No urges, no erections, no morning wood. Strange emotional state.

@ConfusedAdult try the porn filter from truple on android. I documented it here

    https://forum.nofap.com/index.php?threads/nofap-best-help-tool-for-android-and-windows-users.286213/

It is possible to lock your filter. It is extremely powerful, blocks direct websites, search engine results and much more "triggers".

Also the one feature i like the most, if you lock the content filter on the app, you can set a time delay for any unlocks.
Whilst it is locked there is physically no way possible to uninstall or bypass this filter, not even by proxy. You simply have to wait for the time delay when pressing unlock and i set mine to 12 hours. By which point my urges have gine

I have been addicted for 6 years, and after one year of Nofap (with numerous relapses) Id say that its getting less hard to maintain streaks. Give it at least a year, and lrobably more
