I've looked this up and I saw the reddit post from a year ago where it depends how long you've been watching porn and doing it. I started watching porn around 14 and I'm 30 now. I fapped about five to six times a week and watched porn almost every day.

welcome 1st to nofap, congrats on wanting to change your habit's and thinking. Thats step one. I dont think there is one clear answer as we all are different. Some take 2 week, some take 2 years or longer. I think its not important to be focused on the when, because when you set a date and you're not cured, you will be disappointed. I think you have to take this journey one step at a time, find the real you without PMO. Then i think you'll know when your brain is rewired.

  4. the best tip I can possibly give you is this. If you're going to decide to do this, see it through. The withdrawals are very, very hard to deal with especially if you started fapping at a younger age. Be certain that you can make it through reboot because if you can't it will take a very long time to get through the withdrawals and it's a living hell. Not gonna sugarcoat it, depends on how severe your addiction is or has been but reading about your situation looks like you're in for a very rough ride. You should do this if you're ready and you should take time to deal with this potentially even stop working for a while if possible. I never took heroin or something like it but going through heroin withdrawals is probably the same thing. But again it depends. Good luck in any case!

  5. BTW I would say at least a year is what you'll need. 90 days isn't for everyone especially not if you've been addicted for over a decade and started so young.

Well, only one way to find out. I tried NoFap when I first joined here and lasted about 8 days then relapsed lol. Will see how long I can go now. But it better be longer than 8 days.

  7. Withdrawals will set in after about 10-14 days. Rest assured that once these kick in, there will be no way back. It is very rough. You will be at the point of no return but you'll be a better man when you arrive at the other side. I started no-PMO without any clue of what was about to happen. It ain't pretty. Knowing what you're up against is a bonus.

    Take care.

What do these withdrawals contain? Curious because tomorrow is day 10 for me so I'd like to be mentally prepared.

I would like to know as well.

  10. It all depends on how severe your addiction is. In my case I started getting bad panic attacks after about 10 days. I developed a very nasty anxiety disorder. I will pray this doesn't happen to you, but again, it depends on how severe your addiction is. If you started masturbating at a young age your body won't be able to just cope once you quit, hence the withdrawals. When you don't get that high from PMO although you think you will be okay, your body will start freaking out quite a bit. It will release quite a bit of stress hormones. You could get palpitations, start trembling, etc. But again everyone is different so it could be less severe. Also I started Nofap during a very stressful period which probably wasn't the best idea. In any case the withdrawals shouldn't prevent you from breaking the habit, the only thing you should do is see it through for however long you need. My case probably resembles heroin addiction or something like that but that doesn't mean it will be the same for you. A lot of guys here have withdrawal symptoms that are less severe, e.g. fatigue or low energy. Others get anxious or depressed. These are mostly the guys, or girls, who started masturbating to porn at a young age and watched it nearly every day.

This is what I am dreading and am trying to prepare for. I started at a young age (13-years-old) and my addiction is pretty severe I would say. Although towards the last few years the addiction was more of a compulsion. I didn't get that much high from watching porn and at times even felt bored by it. I just didn't see any good reason to stop watching until I discovered NoFap and watched more videos and read articles about how porn was slowly melting my mind away.

So hopefully I don't get any severe withdrawal issues although I'm expecting it as my body is used to orgasming on a near-daily basis.

My withdrawal symptoms have been an awful lot like shock. I literally shake a little and I have the exact feeling you get when your body goes into shock. Literally just a mild form of shock. My energy levels however are much better!

"Rewiring" means to build up new habits and new skills.
therefore, you will "know" it when your new habits have become second nature to you. So much that you simply forget about porn.

    Rewiring itself means two steps:

First: Abstinence. Absolutely and pure. No exceptions. No edging. No distractions. Total "digital detox". Be totally honest with yourself. If you are 100% "tightly sealed", then you will feel all your suppressed emotions. Fear, anger, depression .. everything will come up.

Second: Focussing on goals. Building new habits. This is the really important part. If you focus only on abstinence, then you will relapse again and again. Use the time of abstinence to build up new habits. There are three main paths to follow:
    1. Do the things you really want to do. Toss away any excuses for not doing it. Just do it.
    2. Keep up real social contacts. Build good and solid friendships. Approach people. Understand that social contacts need to be actively maintained.
    3. Balanced body and mind. Regular sports. Healthy food. Enough sleep. Meditation.

    Means and ends.

    Remember that. Means and ends.

NoFap is a 'Mean'. It is a tool to make your life better. NoFap isn't the goal itself, NoFap is the tool you use to have more power and confidence for actual, real goals.

It's just like a drug addict having as life goal: I will never use this drug again. And then, after he has quit, he sits there, at home, thinking by himself: so what's next? He has to fight through the stage of trying to make something of his life without the drug. And that new life, without the drug, may seem bland at first. But at some point, he will forget about the drug and live a happy life without it. That's the point.

That's why on NoFap it's pointless to just sit at home and 'wait' until you have rebooted. It doesn't work like that.

Like the person above me says: forget about porn. It's fake. Do the things you have always enjoyed. You will find out that, when retaining sperm, you become better at those things and enjoy them more.

Good luck man, I wish you all the best with pure honesty.

Thank you for the support guys. I have taken some measures to help with my recovery process:

    1. Installed pornblocker. Threw away the keys (set the emails to my friends' and begged them to never give me the passwords even if I beg).

    2. Got off youtube and Instagram. Unfollowed all the "sexy" accounts on there.

    3. Trying to be more active. Going out more. Minimizing "sit at home do nothing" time.

    4. Am looking to join a martial arts school. Always wanted to do martial arts and finally going to go through with it.

    5. Working out more. Or more focused on doing it more consistently.

    6. Trying to be more socially active. Trying to talk to people more not just girls.

I hope I can make it through. I already feel some emotions coming up. Anger, guilt, sadness. Regret is the main thing. Looking back at all those years I wasted so much of my time, stunted my potential and basically felt like I took life for granted. I think it will get worse because I haven't reached the withdrawal stages yet.

I just hope it's not too late for me...

It will take from 6 months to one year.

My withdrawal symptoms included: stiff legs to the point it was difficult to get up from a chair. Various pains in the joints, pain in the skull, teeth, gums, back. You will pee a lot at times. Had a bad rhinitis all the time wich led me to the emergency room because i couldn't breathe.
Psychologicals up and down are insane, you can go from 10 to 0 in one day or less.
Probably many other, i described the main withdrawals for what i can remember now.
