    Hello, everyone.
Today I noticed that my k9 stopped blocking porn sites.
While it blocks all sites in my exception list, the category blocker doesn't work.
Some time ago I noticed similar behaviour, but it soon stopped (probably after I restarted my PC).
So now the gate to the big adult world is open for me.
Is it a common problem? The software is discontinued since 2016.
Have you switched to something better?
I am now browsing OpenDNS website.

  2. Used covenant eyes. They have 30 days free trial. Test it out to see if you like it. Its blocks porn better to be honest. Free one is Qustodio. Its great, but restrictions are crazy.

    Thanks, ishee.
Covenant Eyes is $15 per month, which is quite expensive.
I installed Qustodio, but unfortunately it only partially blocks porn.
e.g. you go to yandex and search for porn - lots of videos pop up and you can watch many of them.

I find it ironic you think $15 a month is quite expensive but don’t see the loss of time spent on pmo as the absolute huge financial drain it is. I think the only exceptions would be if your from a very impoverished country. But I’m thinking if you have internet or an iPhone it’s costing you more than $15 a month.

For crying out loud, Qustodio doesn't even block xhamster19.com
Psalm27:1my light, thanks for you input.
My fast mobile and home internet taken together cost around $7 per month.
I get your point, and I will at least try that software.
Yes, I find it expensive esp. seeing k9 as a great software that did its best.
But considering the importance of nofap, I think it worth giving it a chance.

  6. Porn blockers will block as many websites as they can however they cant block all websites. They are using AI and are still developing it and improving it. Word of advice is if you want to watch porn there is ways a way to bypass the porn blocker such as using VPN which overrides porn blocker. You need to decided do you really want to quit porn forever or for a short while. If you want to quit for life you will have to fight it like hell. Every urge will make you stronger and build you discipline to keep fighting. Remember you can always bypass porn blockers if you really want to watch porn. Quit porn because you want to quit forever and fight like hell to beat this addiction. Don't rely on porn blockers.

    Thanks, ishee, I know.
I mean, ofc we need to fight it like hell.
But to have some mechanism to protect your self is a nice benefit.
FYI, I installed Norton Family, it seems to be working quite nice.
They have free 30-day trial version.

Holy cow! How is it so cheap for you? My internet is $85 per month alone and my phone another $45.... I need to get out of California! Lol

  9. I just don’t use blockers… I always relapse when I “challenge” myself to bypass their restrictions. We’ll always be smarter than the blockers and it takes a certain level of self control to choose to not watch porn while having the world wide web wide open to any site you may desire.

  10. I know a blocker won't fix me and I have used K9 and even installed it for my dad before but he always could seemingly bypass it eventually I doubt he has been clean on his home computers but that's not my issue to worry about any longer

If the K9 servers went down it is time for a new blocker but they always had a great reputation I feel

Yes I think so , I installed coldturkey at the same time so I thought coldturkey made it glitch.Goddamn it .I actually blocked all sites except a few.
All the sites are now unrated .
Nevermind coldturkey fixed that execption-bypass thing.

me2, feeling like a hacker searching for gold...and finding it, eventually
for me at least, blocking easy access is helpful.

Its developer was bought by Symantec, now Norton. They incorporated k9's features into their Norton Family cloud parental control service. I installed it, didn't dig deep, but it seems to be working fine. It has categories and list of exceptions, too. I now combine it with my k9 leftovers - some local settings.

xXsinnerXx, thanks, I will take a look.

What do you mean? I installed coldturkey, but it blocks your internet activity as a whole, w/o password, when you need it. And then you switch it off whenever you like.
