Hi everyone, I fell heavily into looking at porn in 2019 after seeing a video of something that really aroused me and sent me down the wrong path. The video wasn't porn, but something attractive to me was in it. After that, I looked up worse and worse things and before I knew it I was fully addicted again. This was after having been porn free for years so anyone out there, if you're reading this, don't think you can't ever fall again. Please keep your guard up!

I eventually want to do PMO, but for the moment I just want to get the porn out of my life. It's very hard and addictive as you all know.

So, I'm creating this 30 day journal of not looking at porn. I'll check in everyday and record how I'm doing. Please feel free to keep me accountable, I really need it.

I looked at porn like 30 mins ago and I feel very bad for it. So, starting now, is day 1.

Occasionally, I post things I enjoy or have helped me in hopes that it will help others. Today is a Bible verse I just read:

Romans 6:12-14 "Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires. Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace."

  4. I will be following along with interest. I also removed P from my life before tackling MO, so I know that is a solid plan that can work. I am praying for you and cheering you on!

Check out Romans 6-8. This is the heart of the Gospel and the source of our hope for real life in Christ, no matter how badly we have shipwrecked ourselves. God is good!

Just got off work so I'm going to go ahead and post day 2 since I'll likely fall asleep soon. So far, I'm doing good. Today was a hard day and usually after hard days is when I'm often tempted. Right now, I'm feeling good about not falling, hopefully anyway!

Day 3, I've been facing on and off temptation today, especially when I see attractive girls at work. I'm trying to divert my eyes more often. I think I'll be good for today at least.

Thank you for your honesty and your caution about a relapse. I have succumbed far too many times in my life. When I rebooted on my current quest, a wise man wrote to me and recommended his method which has kept him free from the sin for over six years and counting.

He told me to begin by making promises to God to remain chaste for short periods of time (minutes then hours, etc.) and concurrently praying to God for His grace to fulfill the promise. Do this each time you are tempted. Secondly, when tempted learn to stop yourself from dwelling on the image or thought for any period of time. Turn away immediately. This is extremely helpful and extremely challenging. I try to spend time reconsidering my actions each day and I see that I am not completely successful at this challenge but I have improved and will continue to strive for more improvement. Praying for your success.

    Thanks CPilot :)

Day 4. I had today off from work and pretty much slept all day because of the rain and resting up from two hard days. I go back to work in a few hours at 4am. So far, no temptation at the moment.

If anyone is interested, you can install a filter on your home router that blocks porn. That means every device that connects to your router will have this filter to go through. Here's the link: https://cleanbrowsing.org/ I'm sure some already know about this, but thought I would post it anyway. You can also install it on a device instead of the router if you choose. It's free, but it does have paid options. There are three different filters, I use the family filter option. It sets most major search engines and youtube to safe search. I'm very tech savvy so I've been getting around this filter for a long time, but it has protected me in few instances and it also protects everyone else in my household from looking at porn since they're not very tech savvy.

  10. If you want to take accountability to the next level and use something a bit harder to bypass, let me know. Of course, the pursuit of purity begins in the heart; if there is a desire to bypass filters, there will always be a way to do so.

Thanks, I gave up on trying to use filters since it's so easy to bypass them except for the one mentioned above for my family's sake. But, I'm willing to hear what you have in mind. :)

Day 5, last night I came close to looking at something a little risky. I think I'm starting to experience some early withdrawal symptoms. But, with God's grace I was able to back off.

2 Corinthians 12:9 " But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me."

  12. Check out Accountable2You and let me know if it's something you want to look into for yourself. Many here use it to hold one another accountable. I have sampled all of them, and I find this one to be best in class.

Thanks for the link. I'm not sure I could use it since most of the devices in my house are shared. But, I'll keep it in mind and might install it on the devices I use most.

Unfortunately, I failed and gave into temptation. I'm disappointed in myself as I was doing good. I guess it's a marathon instead of a sprint and can't expect myself to overcome it overnight when I've been looking for 2 years now.

  14. We commit to doing whatever it takes to break free and stay free of PMO. Freedom always carries a cost. The longer we wait, the higher the cost goes!

Unfortunately, I'm back at Day 1 AGAIN. I think I'm going through a bad cycle currently. My main problem is youtube. I use the "light" stuff on youtube instead of actual porn sites. If you know where and how to look, there's some light pornographic material on youtube. It started last night when I looked up some small things, but quickly got off of them. Then, this morning the temptation came roaring back. I might start a new resolve to report the last video I watched so I can't watch it again and so others won't watch it.... One day at a time (sweet Jesus), even if I fail a hundred times.....

  17. Perhaps a commitment to no YT at all for a month would be helpful?

YT can be a big trigger. We can make rules to not use it but we would cut potential for many educational videos. God wants us to be "Wise a serpents" in these last days. Being wise involves asking for it in the first place (James 1:5.) I would recommend to take some time out of your day and ask God for his wisdom. He won't deny you that, trust him.

I haven't been able to post in a while because work has been kicking my butt. When I get home, I almost immediately fall asleep or just want to relax and not doing anything at all. This coming week looks to be just as brutal.
