Been having a stressful week and just quit alcohol (basically a substitute for pot) and been negative and toxic to everyone especially myself.

I've been trying to save money to finally get a car at 28 and finally move out of my toxic moms house. It took me long getting a job and off social security because I had PTSD from a very toxic series of fallouts in my past I won't go over. I need to move out like now before I wring her fing neck. I don't want to hurt anybody but she's the type of person to ignore all of your needs and undermine what you say and undercut the nice things you do so yeah I need to gtfo and not go to jail lol.

So yeah, I cut out alcohol hopefully for good and sugar to save on expenses and I'm budgeting now. I'm just getting frustrated because it's going to take a loooong time before I have enough to get a car so I can do some side hustle like door dash and what not. For now I hate my fucking existence and I'm honestly exuding a metric ton of negative energy to everyone around me because I'm so unhappy.

If anyone can, can you guys suggest to me some good interesting hobbies or activities that will lower my stress without getting high on a drug? I'm open to some gaming suggestions as well as I'm not doing a dopamine fast like some other folks. If you can it would be appreciated !

  2. See if there are any martial arts academies near by, or any activities that involve other people that will get you out of your comfort zone, help your self improvement, and help you avoid isolation, I just started BJJ and it has helped alot on this journey.

That actually sounds like an excellent idea! I could go to my planet fitness when I have two days off and get in better shape. I might just do that. I don't think I could do any martial arts besides boxing since I have had a bad injury on my right leg in a car accident but it wouldn't be an impossibility to get back into shape. I'm currently in decent shape, I'm not too overweight. I'm decently muscular but I have a few extra pounds in the gut. My legs are pretty muscular since I've been walking 2+ miles minimum for much of my life. I would like to build muscle around the pectoral muscle area and get a six pack but not be too lean if you know what I mean. I want the fat deposits in certain places so I could look big but not body builder mass wise, I'd go for like the middle aesthetic. Yeah I'll try to challenge myself to go maybe friday or Saturday depending on my schedule. I genuinely enjoy working out so I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the suggestion!

Pushed my gym day to today had a good physical resistance session. Jesus I needed this. I did about 180 reps, sets of 20, alternating between 80lbs down to 60 lbs starting off small. Got some crunches and whatnot. The real challenge was walking miles in this 92 degree weather. But yeah probably going back on Friday or Saturday. Exercise definitely helped with my mental health today.

When I was your age having sex with my girlfriend was the best thing I could do in the world, it cured all my problems temporarily, similar to any drink, drug, or porn might do for you. Real sex with a partner still ranks up there, but at 65-years old with my loving wife, it's not quite as fun as it was when we were younger.

  7. The best thing you can do for yourself is exercise, get out there and move your body. Do whatever you are attracted to but find something that gets your heart rate going. Maybe initially it won't feel great but it doesn't take long for a natural reward to kick in and you begin to love it. Can get a real high from it.

So I won't claim that it will cure an addiction and take you to Nirvana, but I have no doubt that the human body is designed to move. When the body moves it becomes healthy and this has a huge effect on the mind because the two are linked. There is a lot of research on exercise for stress and its pretty obvious why. It works.

Nah I was doing good, and it DID feel like nirvana just finished work and I'm gonna get some anti inflammatory foods to blend up and try to heal from the muscle soreness. I'm replacing my diet now and going for whole foods like ginger and turmeric to improve my liver health and get down some weight before building back in with some muscle

Damn, nice effort bro. Really pounding the weights. Am hoping to get there myself once I get past this chronic fatigue. Good on you for pushing yourself

Yeah, good luck with that brother. Let me know how that goes, we could motivate each other and share some techniques or nutrition or whatever.
