Hi, I'm a college student whose goal, beyond graduation, is to maximize productivity and material comprehension skills. I recently came across a scientific article, where tests are carried out on subjects in sexual abstinence for a period of 3 weeks, and I would like to share the information reported in the study.

During or after sexual activity, whatever it is, the following circumstances occur:
    1) Significantly increases the concentration of catecholamines in blood plasma, which are released in response to physical or emotional stress and have a number of effects on the body, including: increase heart rate, increase blood pressure, increase attention immediately (not long term) and reduce fear and anxiety.

However, if levels are high too often, it can cause: sleep disturbances, depression, anxiety, fertility problems

    2) Significantly increases the concentration of prolactin in blood plasma, which allows you to control the body's response following an orgasm, inhibiting sexual functions, general excitement and induces a feeling of sexual satiety.

However, if levels are often too high, it can cause infertility, decreased libido, tiredness and depression.

From personal experience, I feel that I have experienced all of the above symptoms, except the extreme ones. This situation didn't help me with my studies, it often made me feel not very concentrated, and, above all, I felt the urgent need to distract myself with simple things and immediate activities. It almost seemed that my brain, having reached the deception of procreation, was satisfied and unable to do anything else.

Last but not least, I quote the last observation taken from the study on patients who, on the other hand, were in prolonged abstinence:

    3) Increases the concentration of testosterone, which is part of the steroid hormones (*), and changes the reward mechanism of the brain, mediating with the dopaminergic systems, in the following two ways:
    - makes sexual relations with one's partners more satisfying and fulfilling than before.
    - lowers the threshold above which testosterone produces rewarding effects. In summary, normal life situations and, above all, our passions will appear more satisfying.

In conclusion, it is clear how behaviors similar to (P)MO influence our lives to 360 degrees and can radically change our perception of it, positively but, above all, negatively. I apologize if the topics covered may have already been treated or pedantic, but I felt the need to share this information.

    Good luck to all!

    (*) steroid hormones:
Steroid hormones are produced by a number of endocrine glands, including the gonads (ovaries and testicles), adrenal glands, and pituitary gland. Once produced, steroid hormones are released into the bloodstream and travel to target cells, where they bind to specific receptors. The binding between the hormone and the receptor causes a series of events within the cell, which leads to changes in the cell's metabolism, growth, and function.

One might think that, once dispersed with ejaculation, they fail their natural duties, but that's just my guess.

Interesting. I have super high prolactin levels due to medication so I know what it does when taken to the extreme. It makes you feel weak, tired, and depressed. It also causes severe sexual dysfunction and kills your libido entirely. Makes me wonder if the elevated prolactin from masturbation before the medication affected me in any way.

Last time I went to a doctor and had bloodwork done, they said my prolactin levels were fine. I don't get it, as I was using PMO a lot at the time (still) and that was over a year ago or about a year ago or so.
