Im not so sure about that. This is a forum for life change and a place where everyone should be able to share anything and be totally honest. If you put a competition element to it, it might actully reverse that effect I think.

I would like it if there was an icon on the top of the page where you can quickly go into your own threads and see the responses you got from there. It's inconvenient to have to subscribe to your own thread or look up your own threads to see the responses you get. Perhaps a separate icon next to "What's New" for your own started threads would be really helpful.

That's true: we must all fight together against this, as we're all part of the same team here. Anything that goes against that shouldn't be implemented. Perhaps the badge idea isn't so good after all...

It's also true that with the signature we can already make our own rewards. In my particular case, I invented a journey from Darkness to Lightness, with different stages. And the best recognition, in my opinion, must come from oneself and from other human beings, as in personalized messages, not so much from an automatic system.

    Galaxim.

  4. I agree with Abel. I personally think that the signature is one of the best features here because it allows us to express our personality in an insightful and personal way, and besides when you are like in my case and haven't relapsed (and will not) but still have goals, precisely because it's not a challenge for me but something I will just do all my life and so if I have no goals anymore it means it's time to die, it's good to be able to personalize these goals with the number of days you want and to adapt it to your own personality and uniqueness. The example I have in mind is IWantABetterLife22 and the way he used legend sax players in his signature. I find it really touching, it shows how much Eric is committed to this. Abel's signature (thanks again for the idea my brother) is great too because it reflects his different personality in a precise way. It's the same for me and my *really nerdy* signature, or galaxim's story - maybe no one knows what each other talks about, but it makes us stronger individually because it's so personal. Everybody has its way and its role models. What I put in my last goal is the highest thing I can ever think to achieve, but to be honest, when I'll arrive here I'll put another goal. I think it would be detrimental to transform what essentially is a self-improvement challenge in a "generalised", "industrialised" (sorry it's exaggerated) kind of way by forcing everybody to use the same system, may it be encouraging competition.

    Much ado about nothing sorry.

  5. Oh, just a two cents idea: having the possibility to post a status. Something short and simple, that you could update, visible on your user page. I just had this idea because I'm doing NoScreen tomorrow so it'd be useful for me to say to everybody I won't be reachable tomorrow. Other things you could say would be like "really depressed, please send help", "I'm fucking pumped today! Need some support?", "Inbox full", a link to a song or a motivational video, I don't know anything, but yeah just sharing a thought.

Good one. I would say that "I vote for this", but people here are going to start thinking that I vote for anything that comes, so yeah... but I'm with you... and you have my vot... ok, ok, not this time.

How about increasing the length limitation on posts in Groups? Many have their journals in this section, so it doesn't make sense to have a 1000 character limit.

Can we make a stick thread on the newbies section with frequently asked questions, not about the site usage, but with some useful and comprehensive threads, such as the following links:

    http://www.nofap.org/forum/showthread.php?2402-Get-educated-get-tools-and-learn-to-love-withdrawals
    http://nofapsolideo.wordpress.com/

They're all in my signature, but I don't want to start telling every new user "hi! read my signature!", because it sounds as some sort of spamming.

It the past I suggested a third link, next to "what's new" and "forum" (in the upper right side corner), with the words "where to start?". I still think that it's a good idea. There we could also put Gary Wilson's video, a general idea of the reboot process (for example, "it takes around 90 days or more to be rebooted"), an example sheets of triggers, PMO usage, goals settings, etc.

    What do you think?

  9. I extremely agree. A sticky about wet dreams would be dead useful too. In fact, I read the FAQ several times and all is there, but as it's at the bottom of the page it can be left unseen easily. Linked to Galaxim's idea, I think it'd be effective to put it more in sight. I love the idea of "Where to start".

Can we have a NoFap day when people who used to frequent the forum, but have succeeded in kicking the addiction and have since left, come back and talk about their experiences as a recovered addict. It also means that they will pick up messages that have been waiting for their return. I, for one, miss some of those superstars who helped me at the beginning of my journey.

Also, a register of those who have left because they feel they have rebooted would be great. I can't think of anything more encouraging than to come in on a Monday and see that list has grown over the weekend. It is a list we can ALL contribute to when our time comes. Not so much fallen heroes as much as freed slaves.

  11. Thank you for continuing to contribute awesome suggestions! I have a long to-do list now, haha. I'll be working to implement all of these ideas.

They're both good ideas, perusan, but I think that the second one is easier to implement, as many guys need to move on from a certain point, that is, if they don't come back it's probably because they don't want/need to come back.

Nevertheless, we could give it a try and see what happens. :)

The list of succesful rebooters would be also useful for their posts and insights. "Ah, this guy did this right". "Oh, he also commited that mistake".
