No idea if this is the right place...
I’m probably not alone but I haven’t really read it anywhere so I decided to tell you guys my story. Curious about your thoughts.
I’m 23 and a male. I feel confident, I do a lot of sports and I have no problems talking with girls at all. I’ve had my share of sexual experiences. In general, I feel like my testosterone levels are lower than average. I don’t think about sex that much and when I hear friends talking about their thoughts on women, I can not relate at all because my world doesn’t revolve around sex. I watch porn about 4-6 times a week, sometimes more. I recently broke up with my girlfriend because I feel like I’m losing a lot of my freedom. I’m happiest being single at the moment.
I decided to give NoFap a go because of two reasons. The first being that two of my friends (who are quite porn-addicted) tried it and they gave up after a month. I just wanted to try it and see if I noticed any effects. The second reason is a bit more serious. Quite often I think about porn when having sex. It just gives me control on how long I can last/how fast I want to finish.
I started NoFap right when I started traveling with a friend. We’ve been traveling together for the last 6 weeks and without any trouble I managed to ‘stay clean’ these weeks. I’ve previously tried nofap November and that was pretty easy for me as well. However, a few days ago, I settled in a city in a foreign country to study here for half a year. Suddenly I’m alone. Within 4 days I relapsed.
Here’s what I experienced those weeks. I didn’t really feel any difference. My mind wasn’t any clearer and I didn’t feel stronger or more confident. The one thing I did feel, and quite strongly, was my different approach towards women. The last week I was literally checking out every girl, basically objectifying her, rating her face and body. I even made a Tinder account which I think is horrible because you’re literally picking people based on their looks and nothing else. After my relapse I feel so much better because I’m not so busy with women anymore. I’ve got my freedom back and I care a lot less what girls think of me.
I’ve got two questions for the community. 1: Is it normal that I hardly feel a difference? Would I have felt it if I managed for 90 days? And question 2: Is NoFap really good for you/society with regards to women? I see so many people talk about how they’re easily talking to girls, which I think is awesome. Especially for the less confident. But if it comes with a very sexual approach (mentally) to women, isn’t that exactly what we should try to get rid of? Isn’t that why we had international women’s day yesterday: to see women as normal people rather than objects? I totally agree to try to get rid of porn, as this does the exact same. But abstaining from masturbation to feel more masculine, and approach women for sex, just feels wrong. It certainly felt wrong for me.
