Ha ha. Well actually he did a lot wrong. He put Barbie on a pedestal and worshipped her. As a result, she looked down upon him and treated him with contempt.

The movie was terrible. I found it's message to be anti-men, anti-family, anti-baby, and anti-relationship. I would much rather sit through all of the other 30 enjoyable Barbie movies in a row everyday for a month than to sit through another 2 hours of that crap.

    Horrible.

  5. I've never seen the movie and wasn't going to. But Ryan Gosling is literally me.

Ryan Gosling is a good actor. I enjoyed his performance in The Notebook. I thought that was a very good movie. Yet Barbie has now become the biggest success of his career.

Such a shame that's it's come to this.

  7. The movie just looks like propaganda to me, like 9/10 things Hollywood puts out. I refuse to watch things that preach to me about basically anything (even if I agree with it) and will actively go out of my way to make fun of it.

    I’m pretty sure all
Hollywood movies from now until either the end of time or until Hollywood is dismantled by an invader, will be full-on propaganda and falseness

Seems like the truth is now hidden under mountains and mountains and millions upon millions of mind-slaves

I don’t even talk much to people anymore at work or school

remember Jesus words: “o perverse and unfaithful generation, how much longer must I bear with you and suffer being around you!”

It’s considered Cool in the modern West to Hate Men, but not only that, you’ll be praised for being vocal about it.

There are some good Hollywood movies, it's just the way some women have reacted to it is a bit silly.

    It's not a Disney movie.

That doesn't sound all that bad then. If one of the ideas of the movie is men shouldn't put women on a pedestal then I'm for it. It's just the way some women have reacted to it seems rather extreme.

This is what Plugged In says about the movie:

Barbie (the doll) has been a topic of sexual objectification almost since her inception. Women want to look like her. Men want to be with her. She’s the ideal of society’s beauty standards. And yet, she’s always been impervious to these ideas because, well, she’s a doll.

By bringing Barbie to life, she begins to embody what it actually means to be a woman. She voices how uncomfortable objectification makes her. She shuts down attempts to flirt with her. She discusses the impossible standards expected of women by society. And she begins to feel a sense of dread because even though she’s done nothing to warrant this treatment (and everything to prove she’s somehow “worthy”), she and the women around her are still subject to it.

But therein lies a serious problem with the film. At its core, I truly believe Barbie wants to teach girls to stand up for what’s right, to hold true to their beliefs and especially to support other women. And these are great aspirations. Unfortunately, the way the message is delivered shines Ken (and all men) in a really bad light.

Because Barbie uses extreme stereotypes to make a point, it fails to show how the average man behaves toward women. And it even sorta blames guys for all the negative emotions women have ever felt about themselves or other women.

The Kens of Barbieland are simpish and weak. Then they take power and become obnoxious and crass. So if Barbieland is supposed to be a reflection of the real world, then there’s no space for a man who respects women but also respects himself. And there’s also very little suggestion that men can use their strength and masculinity in selfless ways—ways that might protect and defend someone who’s genuinely vulnerable.

There's nothing more hilarious than seeing grown ass men getting triggered by a movie meant for little girls.

  16. I'm not sure how calling Hollywood propaganda out for what it is equates to men being triggered, but OK.

Men are triggered from what I am seeing. While at the same time having the nerve to tell women that the degradation they see inflicted on their sex in porn is no big deal. If men aren't triggered then who's making all that fuss online about a movie for children ?

Grown ass men with gray hair are triggered by a movie made for little girls.

  18. It's just a bad movie using accusations of bigotry as a smokescreen to deflect any criticism of it. Just like most things Hollywood slops out nowadays. Any deeper discussion of the themes or motive behind its creation are pointless when it's just another propaganda piece created to farm rage clicks.

Having said that, I'd say the women breaking up with their boyfriends because they don't like a movie are the ones being unreasonable here. I also don't think the movie is intended for young children, it's clearly marketed at older women who grew up playing Barbie and have nostalgia for the brand.

It's intended for both, but judging from the fact that barbie is usually for little girls, I would say that the main demographic targeted are still little girls, older women with nostalgia are on the second plan.

Not quite, you may think it's unreasonable, but personally I think it's meaningful. Depending on what aspect of the movie triggered their boyfriends the most, these women may have dodged a bullet.
