    DAY 71.

    OUR DUTY TO LEARN
“This is what you should teach me, how to be like Odysseus—how to love my country, wife and father, and how, even after suffering shipwreck, I might keep sailing on course to those honorable ends.” —SENECA, MORAL LETTERS, 88.7b

Many schoolteachers teach The Odyssey all wrong. They teach the dates, they debate whether Homer was really the author or not, whether he was blind, they explain the oral tradition, they tell students what a Cyclops is or how the Trojan Horse worked.

Seneca’s advice to someone studying the classics is to forget all that. The dates, the names, the places —they hardly matter. What matters is the moral. If you got everything else wrong from The Odyssey, but you left understanding the importance of perseverance, the dangers of hubris, the risks of temptation and distraction? Then you really learned something.
We’re not trying to ace tests or impress teachers. We are reading and studying to live, to be good human beings—always and forever.

Congrats brother! I remember when I first showed up here I was blown away with your streak. You had a great reason for quitting and that probably gave a lot of motivation. Amazing accomplishment.

    Checking in brothers!!

3 days, all good, and feeling good :). Some brain fog after lunch but not too much. So far, no big withdrawal symptoms.

The great new of the day is the destruction of the porn ring from our dear brother @Ready to Stop . Amazing man!!! Congratulations once again :)

Checking out Fellowship!! Have a great day :)

500 days ago... @Ready to Stop had this breakthrough.

"My last day of PMO I ad stayed home with the exact intent to PMO I stead of watching my daughter play softball. I felt so much shame and guilt that day for choosing PMO over my family and decided right there that I would choose them going forward."

Well done brother!...'The road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began, now far ahead the road has gone and I must follow if I can.' Great step on the road of self-improvement! Stay on the path, no matter what, forever.:)

Well done @Ready to Stop. You have achieved something most of us only dream of. I am sure everyone here has the utmost respect for you, as what you have just accomplished takes more willpower and determination than litteraly everything else. You abstained from the drug that is constantly at our fingertips. You will forever be an inspiration to us, proving that it is indeed possible.

May you stay strong going forward, and live your life as it was meant to be lived.

    Day 23!

Seeing people suceed it so motivational and just warms the heart.

I thought about something. I dont think anyone feels the bad effect of porn, discovers nofap, tries to quit but fails,
And then quits trying to quit, falling back to pmo.

Now that may happen in between streaks and even for many months, but one will eventually get back to quitting, and then, after probably many years, finally quitting for good. I certantly was going back and fourth between trying to quit and keep on pmo’ing, thinking it was impossible. But people prove it is.

But maybe some just give up. I dont hope anyone does though. They should come here and we would help them!

    Day 188

Another good day, although I slipped and had a few drinks in the evening. It had been a long week but that’s no excuse, as I know it will only lead me to feel tired and as a result put me at risk of relapsing.

Day off tomorrow, time to focus up.

  18. Day 1 complete. I overate at dinner, which can sometimes be a trigger for me, but yesterday's reset is still too fresh for it to have had much effect this time. It's been a while since I've overeaten, so I'll make sure it's a very long time until this happens again as well.

@Ready to Stop Congratulations! I remember you posting about missing your daughter's softball, or at least a post where you recounted that story for us. I'm very glad you found the motivation and the strength to pursue this challenge to the end, and beyond. If we can find those things for ourselves, no doubt we will join you someday.

St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us!

    Day 336

@Ready to Stop my brother in Christ! Your story is an excellent example of what PMO does to us and how important is to realize it, to be determined to change. You're really strong now. Eyes open brother, trust in God and you won't fall ever again! I pray for you please do the same for us.
