"Counting in weeks" Challenge for Active Recovery in 2020

Discussion in 'Events & Challenges' started by Deleted Account, Dec 19, 2019.

  1. This is (especially) for everybody who needs to check in regularly but uses this forum way too much.
Also for people who are dedicated to leave their addiction behind, but struggle with getting things done.

This forum is a great recovery tool and ressource. It is full of awesome people to connect with. But we have to stop retreating to this place (or social media / the internet in general) and miss out on life. We need to implement what we've learned and talked about for so long. Less talking, more action. We need to do active recovery!

One day we all have to leave this place - just because life. I think it's good to train for this. I challenge you to be less active on the forum, but with better focus on your recovery and overall progress!

Rules for the Challenge (or rather: guidelines)

The idea is to report here only once a week. Thus you can focus on a whole week instead of on every day seperately.
You are allowed to modify the "once a week check-in" to your personal needs. For example you might want to check just every ten days or at irregular intervals. What's important is that you embrace the general idea.

This is for active recovery, so the main focus will be on the addiction. Porn and p-subs are not ok: that's common sense. M, O - it's up to you. Stay accountable, report setbacks and relapse.
But active recovery is also about personal growth. So you're more than welcome to set and pursue goals here and discuss everything that matters for making your life awesome!

TLDR: come here once a week, count in weeks, set goals, report, stay accountable, improve your life

The Challenge begins in January 2020

  2. My personal rule is: don't log in to the forum more often than once a week. Exception: "big" days (30 days clean, 45 days clean and so on)
    (From 1st of January)

  5. So we're already three people. I think that's enough to start it. It might even be a good number. (Who knows?)

    @control your life
I've seen you a lot of times on this forum. We may even have talked in some threads. I'm happy that you joined this thread. Feel free to share anything with us that you think is important to say.

    @Little Bo Peep
Little Bo Peep, I didn't know you before "that thing". But I'm happy to get to know you through "that thing".
It was interesting and touching to read a little piece of your story.
I hope that this thread may help you to find the right amount of "forum use". In a way that your relationship may profit from it, but also yourself, at your own pace.

I wish you both many good weeks!

We must go over the fence and embrace the new life . We must fight for our freedom . I wish everyone will overcome this bad habbit!

  9. Ok, the week's nearly full, but I had to reset.
So I can't count any weeks.
At least my streaks get longer. I spend most of my days without porn.

I was using this forum too much.
I've got many unhealthy behaviors to stabilize myself, to feel normal. And using this forum is just one of them.

I should not log in spontanously, because I feel bad or don't know what to do. Yes, my activity here gives me positive feedback and feeling I have done something meaningful. But it doesn't help me much in my life.

At the moment, "counting the weeks" doesn't make much sense for me. However, I want, at least, go in that direction.
I want to come back when I have 10 days on my clock again (not necessarily hard mode, but without porn or subs). Then with 15 days, when I'll be an "Elite Warrior". The Super Saiyan Challenge is what motivates me most and where I can "manage" my recovery the best, at the moment. Of course when I'm logged in, I can write at all the places, including this thread and my Journal. But that can't be the reason to come here in the first place. First comes life.
If using this forum becomes a reward for my active recovery, I'll be motivated much more to stay clean, I'm sure of it!

I noticed this thread before the new year but don't remember which day, I can start counting from the 1st but I'm going to make it Sundays with today being the first S of the year.

Also... TBH yes I don't need to log in to the forum as often as I do, and I honestly do feel it's coming from some degree of compulsion. I'm down to once a day and don't go online as much rest of the day but I can also spend less time overall. So here's my personal easy to remember 'settings' besides checking back here once a week:

    • Check phone no more than 7 times a day and remember how many times (btw I don't use the forum with the phone and it's a short amt of time)
    • Check forum every other day
    • Post all replies OFFLINE starting now, (copy and paste and save the text) and no more than 7 (quality over quantity) between when I read it and the next forum day - since I'm starting on the 5th it's always going to be the odd day of the month (until we go from Jan 31st to Feb 2nd)
    • Limit forum reading to threads replied to and no more than 7 new ones
    • Expand forum reading to all categories - so at least go down the list through one new category each forum day, to get a more balanced view of peoples perspectives and what they're dealing with whether it's age range, people in relationship, etc. So those 7 new reads will have to be selective.

  11. Welcome Awedouble! I see you come with a plan. Awesome!

As for myself: I'm still getting much of my energy from the forum or putting it into the forum. Well ... too much time.
    Tonight - I'd even say - I'm binging on the forum - I can't find a stop.

EDIT: (with a cleaner mind now, after a good amount of sleep) I deleted the rest of the bla bla

First week - feel good about it in general and also nice to count this way, feels like it's more substantial than by day..

  14. I'm glad there are finally some people in here! I wish you all success in what you want to achieve! Also much luck!

Nevertheless I need some more time until I can truely count in weeks. I had a reset and I will first focus just on the Super Saiyan Challenge until I'm ready to count in weeks (or months).

Focussing more on real life and being less active in the forum is already working for me!
