Giving My NoFap Journey Over to God...

Philippian4:13

Hello Everyone,

Sorry for double posting here. My heart is heavy after relapse and I really wanted to reach out to the community about this particular topic.

I know not everyone here is a Christian or religious but please feel free to chime in regardless.

There is no denying that the benefits of NoFap are amazing - confidence, energy, joy, focus. All of it! However, the main reason I am doing this is to draw closer to God.

Lately, I have been failing my NoFap journey by fantasizing, and finally relapsed today.
While the benefits have all been there on this streak, lately I've felt so far away from God and weak in faith. God has done amazing things for me. He has never let me down. Yet, I am having such a difficult time giving this part of my life over to him.

How can I draw closer to God during this time? Why am I so unfaithful? What do I have to change? I am willing to do whatever it takes. Please let me know, and feel free to share your own journey. Anything helps right now.

God bless, and may we all get through this together.

Hello brother in Christ,

In my journey a voice answers those questions with a similar "Do I trust in Jesus?"

Our falls, while difficult and hard, are also instance where we lack faith. Times where fears, anxieties, and worries rob us of trust in Jesus.

A friar once said the way to spell love is T. I. M. E. When I reflected on my relationship with Jesus I saw that I gave Him very little time. It's no secret then that I easily abandon someone whom I don't take the time to know and love. This also explains why I'm not ready and willing to trust Him.

Thank you for this response, brother. I appreciate your thoughts.

I pray and read the Bible every morning and pray at night. At this point it feels fake and like a routine.

But I want to change so bad, and to give my whole day over to Christ. How can I give all of my time over to God? What do you do to build your relationship with God when things seem hopeless?

I think here God is calling you to a closer union when He takes away spiritual consolations. It's easy to retain faith when things feel good. But ask yourself, do feel good times ever provide you an opportunity to grow in faith? To grow in trust? To grow in live? As one priest said in a sermon I watched, God is like a boxing coach. There are time when He comes in and gives us consolation, advice, and wisdom on how to battle the enemy, and then there are times He leaves the ring and stands by us as we do battle.

When we think of love we ask ourselves is love perfected if we always get something out of it or do we grow in love when we continue without any reward? The prayers and time you spend with God in dryness of feeling is when you are telling God I will love you even if there is no reward. I will love solely for His glory.

God has blessed me so much. He's given me far too much to give up on faith and worshipping him. By his grace, I will overcome this sin and give him all the glory. He has already overcome the world, so what is in addiction in the face of his glory!

Thank you for this perspective. I will try to worship Christ for who he is, what he has done, and his infinite love; not for the spiritual feeling and what he can do for me.

@Philippian4:13 you give God your heart felt desire and He will supply the grace to make it happen. Christ be with you brother and please pray for me.

Yes, now is the time for a change! Do you want to be accountability partners? I'm not sure how often you are on here, but I usually log on at least once per day.

I'm not in the best area to be an accountability partner; I don't feel I've earned that yet. If you start a journal I'll be happy to read and check-in on it when I do login.
