I mean can you imagine the studies that show porn use correlated with cocaine in terms of dopamine spikes and imagine some people who were edging for hours every day. Or people like me who had short sessions but ejaculated several times a day for YEARS. It's no wonder why I and many other experience benzo like withdrawal symptoms. @saneagain from the last time I spoke to him was over two years from an intense couple of months of a breakdown using porn and ended up with two year withdrawals.

I remember a day in 2013 where I came out of flatline when the PAWS wasnt as harsh. It was like day and night. Colours were brighter, could read a book with interest, passed a test with flying colours. I remember being on a bus back home from test and seeing a girl and me feeling a lust like no other time, like a natural desire to fuck.

I didn't know any better then and stupidly relapsed but when I did i didn't even masturbate or manually stimulate myself. I got hard as hell something that I've lost the ability now and I visually was stimulated so much that I ejaculated without masturbating it was intense.

I do believe lifestyle it very important when it comes to how long PAWS will persist. Last time I was very disciplined regarding sleep, diet, exercise and cured my PIED/flatline after 6 months or so. What helped me the most was 2 weeks of 10H daily walk in the 6th month. It was hell as I injured my knees and had ridiculously swollen legs most of the hike, but also got boners like being 20 again just from looking at women. We'll see how it goes this time around. I'm in total flatline last few months but don't care much. The plus side is that staying in monk mode has never been easier. What I do care is insomnia/depression/anxiety/brain fog and joints pain. But what can we do but to wait and try to lessen the symptoms as much as we can?

I've definitely had pre existing depression and I think most people with addictions do,

But these symptoms I'm having really do feel like drug withdrawal, they started or intensified when I go on a streak.

I'm just really fucking struggling to understand why the symptoms go on for so long. Im actually feeling angry at not knowing the science behind why I could recover from several substance addictions at once within a year (8 years ago) but why jacking off excessively seems to have no recovery in sIght. It's crazy. It doesn't make sense.

The cognition issues I had were beyond measure at one point. I had a blank mind, would occasionally bump into things as my coordination was off (felt like I was on a boat sometimes), speech issues, mumbling, stuttering etc, most of them are gone now. Memory was a symptom that plagued me for years and that is improving significantly but slowly. The anxiety was so bad at one point I couldnt breath properly or my brain wouldnt register to breath so I'd sigh a lot, again that's gone.

I've not really been on a committed exercise regime throughout all of this either, my diet is relatively good, sometimes I eat a bit of shit but nonetheless all my symptoms have improved.

It's like I have the initial symptoms returned. Insomnia came back, burning skin and nerves skyrocket. I thought I was close to healing....i have doubt if pmo withdrawals are the only cause of my suffering. I gain a lot of weight in this reboot.

Could be eating shit or too much as a way of coping with paws?

The blank mind thing has been something that's developed recently for me and honestly I welcome it , I mean I feel dumb as fuck but it's quite relaxing to just not be thinking or worrying.

It's actually quite common to crave for any kind of sugar and fat when in withdrawal. It's dopamine thing again.

Indeed bro, I know exactly how you feel, this alone makes PMO worse or as worse as cocaine, alcohol, cigarettes etc..

"Do you ever wonder if this is really paws or if you are just depressed and these are symptoms of depression?"
I've never had depression before, my life was normal and healthy, in fact it's better now than when I used to PMO everyday, it could be psychological? Maybe, when we experience things like that, we do go through a paradigm shift, our mindset changes, we start to see the world for what it is, whereas before I believe we were in this fantasy land, living a life of escapism, maybe the transition from illusion to reality is a shock to the brain and it could enter into a depressive phase, but we should adapt, get over it and move on, this is supposed to make us stronger

I just can't help but feel there's a missing piece of the puzzle here that we are not getting.

Do you still have paws symptoms or is it purely loss of libido?

right now it'is no libido, low energy, messed up sleep, anhedonia, pretty much it, I want to start a treatment, it's been almost 3 years and I can't stand it anymore, maybe this whole thing have shut down my hormone production and I need to kickstart my system/remind my body that it needs to produce the necessary amount of hormones on a daily basis so I can live functionally in society again. I will begin the treatment probably this month with the assistance of an endocrinologist

That more or less how I feel with a few minor lingering symptoms. I think libido coming back is the last thing to happen among us.

I watched a video last week on YouTube which I've been desperately trying to find to post here but the guy in it described nofap with zero ejaculation as basically sending your sex drive into starvation mode, basically the same thing as what happens when you don't eat anything for a few days (zero appetite)

The sex drive may need to be restarted by interaction with a female however if paws symptoms are still being felt then this probably doesn't apply.

What hormones exactly are you talking about? I don't think there's anything they can do for you.

Taking synthetic testosterone is one of the most harmful things you can do to your body. Do not do it.

I still think there's a missing piece of the puzzle. 2 and a half years like that guy is not normal for any addiction.

We dont know what is normal when it comes to this addiction. Were still in the beginning stages of this all really so who knows.. it took Gabe 15 months to get libido. A guy on yourbrainrebalanced was still recovering at 30 months. Our sexual circuits are depleted where we have conditioned over time.

We will heal it just ain't gonna be a walk in the park. And also tackling any underlying problems you have as well like depression and such helps.
