Introducing a way to support NoFap's expenses (basically a plea for help)

Hi there, Alexander. Have you thought about fundraising. May be a possibility. Also some feminist movements may be very interested to help you out, I am sure.
Your site may even receive offical public funds.
While I am a student and depend on my parent´s money I could hardly spare any money. But when the time arises and I earn much after studying, you can be sure to have my aid.

This is just an idea, if it's something easy to do, you could make the "NoFap Supporter" banner clickable and when somebody clicks on it, take them to a page where they can learn how to support the NoFap community and decide if they also want to give financial support.

 

Hi, I have just discovered this thread now. I think that the small contribution that we are providing is also a sign of our commitment to the cause. It means that we are serious about this. Honestly, I do not think anyone will find another community on the issues we are facing as dynamic as this one, and a group of moderators that respond as quickly and professionally as it is done here. It seems petty in my view that any one would try to add up the contributions to try and see whether it is deserved or not. In my view, the collections ("budget") seem extremely small. In the end, this is a matter of trust. I do not think Alexander is here to make money. Go and check out other websites on similar topics. I was subscribing to one that cost $40 a month if you wanted to have access to all the services, and $10 if you want to have access to the forum only. And even then, it only has a few members and it is in no way as dynamic as this one.

This is after all still a largely pro bono endeavor and the little budget that is being requested from us is really extremely small. I am surprised that some people made somewhat critical comments about this initiative. I obviously see nothing wrong in young people or people who cannot afford it that continue to use and benefit from the site for free. But those who can afford it should try to support the community, and after all $10 is quite affordable for most people, as I suspect most users still come from countries at a relatively advanced level of development. This is after all about helping each other.

I only just found out about your project, and I wanna offer my thanks, appreciation and warmest wishes for the success of this. I know first hand what a bitch of a problem this is, and I've been trying to deal with it different ways. I already received a ton of encouragement from you and other members, and a much greater sense of not being alone. Anyway - re contributions. I want to support, but for a few months can only do $5 - is this ok / practical?
Also, if a regular donation is made by standing order from a bank, what will it show up as? Whilst I don't wanna be a closet, I don't really want "RECOVERING FROM PORN" or something like that all over my bank statement too ;0)

I subscribed last Friday, however I do not have a supporter badge (not that it really matters) and I do not have an option to cancel in my profile preferences (don't plan on canceling anytime soon but would like the option). I used PayPal and my PayPal email confirmations show that I subscribed with the correct forum profile name. Also, I checked my bank account and I was charged.

From reading the comments in this thread, it seems as though it should happen the same day. Can @alexander or another staff member reach out to me to remedy this? Thank you.

 

@alexander is the only staff member with access to the funding/premium stuff, so you'll have to wait till he has a moment.

I set up a monthly donation. $10 is a bit much for me but since I don't really care about account upgrades or whatever, I just donate what I feel comfortable with.

I have been trying to become a supporter for over 2 week - contacted him 3 times, 3 different ways re making a regular bank payment, but no reply every time

I was kidding. Tonsil stones are not likely to be bad enough to keep him off of the forums. I was just making up excuses for him. My wife says people don't get my sarcasm, she must be right. My guess is that you hurt his feelings in a previous life and now he doesn't want to respond to your questions. Or... maybe you gave too much money, and he finally has enough money to retire, so, he booked a flight to Fiji, and we will never hear from him again.
