Day 1 is a reset. Slept a little more than I should have but I guess, it will take a few days to get used to the new routine.
Used social media more than my aim. Must cut that off tomorrow.
    Back to day 1 again

    Day 6.
It has been a refreshing week!

    Things are going great.
Will do a detailed weekly writeup tomorrow.

A bit weird to be home on a saterday evening with absolutely nothing to do but meditate or read.

In the past the saterday evening was used for a weekly movie/ relax + some fast food chill evening. Not any more!

    Report of Week 1:

Duty: 7/7 Got loads of shit done! 13-14h physical workdays are quite hard though
Sleep: 7/7 No issues with sleep, nor had any wet dreams
Excercise: 4/4 Did 4 bodyweight workouts instead of 2 cardio and 2 bodyweight
Meditation: 7/7 Meditation went very well, i'm building momentum and have discovered a new state of concentration, might be the fourth jhana
Study: 7/7 Mostly focussed on soaring eagle's articles, and posting/ reading in the nofap forum
Purity: 7/7 The dopamine detox together with a perfectly clean diet and abstaining from smoking is absolute bliss, i feel fresh, clean and pure
Precepts: 7/7 Accidentally killed a slug during work... I won't count this as a break in the precept as it was unintentional and couldn't be foreseen. I will be more carefull in the future though as per not killing any small animals/ insects by accident!

    Withdrawal symptoms
    Few if any withdrawal symptoms.
Saterday evening a slight headache was coming up but barely noticeable

    Abstention Benefits:

The dopamine detox is absolute bliss. No more smoking, together with a very clean diet (it was already clean but i cheated here and there) is really helping me to find pleasure within through meditation. There is no more internal fight between desires for external pleasure and a focus on the breath internally. Especially the no music part is what helps the most.

    Emotions:

Stable. Even though i heard my ex-gf found someone else, it did not have a great effect.
I simply decided "i don't feed on that kind of thought and feeling anymore, now i feed on the breath", and all trouble vanished.

    Urges:

Very small urge on saterday evening but it went away fairly quickly focussing on the breath

    Reflection:

    Feeling very good about this new start. There are no more internal fights present between seeking pleasure outside or focussing on spirituality inside. The focus has completely shifted to inside, in a very natural, non-restrictive and resistance-less way. I believe the reason for this is the following three decisions;
-To start the dopamine detox challenge, focussing on pleasure within
-To have taken and reinforce my pledge to my higher self on a daily basis
-To simplify my life and tracking (only 7 things to track, not focussed on bulking and weight-tracking, a light evening meal, simple but effective excercises, putting my routines on the moment they are easiest = morning excercise and evening study+meditation, only one source of food = the breath, ...)

Dreams show me i am on track for purification. Desires to be with women/ have sex/ about my ex-gf are arising in my dreams which is a natural effect of abstaining. When i masturbate/ have sex more than once a week, these dreams are non-existent. This time, due to the increased purity in general (daily meditation, dopamine detox added + strict clean diet), the dreams have already started on day two!

Let's see how long they last and when the first wet dream will come.
I hope to gain mastery over my dreams and practice meditation even there!

    Day 1

    1. Planning :emoji_white_check_mark:
    2. Cold shower or bath :emoji_white_check_mark:
    3. Healthy diet :emoji_x:
    4. Exercise :emoji_white_check_mark:
    5. Meditation (10 Minutes minimum) :emoji_x:

    1. No porn :emoji_white_check_mark:
    2. Media fasting :emoji_x:
    3. No alcohol :emoji_white_check_mark:
    4. No sugar :emoji_x:
    5. No coffee :emoji_x:

I had a lot of awareness and mindfulness in my day but then the distractions crept back.
    • today I abstained from porn and the worst kind of media
    • from tomorrow on I'll abstain from all sugary sweets
    • from tomorrow on I'll abstain from serials, yt clips and all other media distractions
    • tomorrow I'll have my last coffee for a long time - from Wednesday on I'm not drinking coffee anymore

On time management and socializing and spending time on the phone:
I need to change this as well, I want to manage my time well and socialize in a way that it doesn't interfer with my goals. I want to do it in a good way, not addictive, impulsive or egoistically. I want to find a way ...

  8. Had a good dopamine detox day today.

Spend today by learning new stuff, had productive work and also started reading LOTR.

Dopamine detox is the best tool for success in life

Very good! The next step is to stop feeling bored, tempted or getting lost in thoughts and instead beginning to implement the new behavior. For all our old habits that we want to get rid of we need new behavior to replace with.
At least that's my fifty cents.

How did it went from there, @Master Builder?

Could you elaborate on this a little? I'm very interested in the jhana and your meditation practice.

Ive made a lot of progress and transitioned to a hybrid dopamine detox system. I will make a detailed post in the next two weeks! Current streak feels like a breeze and the detox got me there! The inner struggle is gone.

Its very subtle and hard to explain... I need more experience getting in and out of that state in order to describe the process accurately.

It just feels different and cleaner than other states of concentration.

At the moment i am short in time so my meditation practice suffers. However i have set things in place in order to have more time for consistent practice. Send me a pm and when the time is there i shall elaborate!

    I'll start here, day 1.
I won't do any of the banned activities except listen to music which I do only rarely. I also want to use youtube or the internet only for productive things and use it intentionally, like reading something about better workouts or a video of how to paint a wall. lets go

I'm in. Time to bore myself to happiness!

    Day 0/30

    0. PMO/P-Subs/edging. - All ready going strong in this one. 101 days in the LotR challenge.
    1. Movies/ T.V. series. - Less of an issue today, but still an issue. I have yet to do a proper detox of this.
    2. YouTube. - Same as #1
    3. All social media. - Same as #1
    4. Carby/ sugary foods. - This one is going to be tough. Sugar is my biggest drug today.
    5. Video games. - Same as #1. Currently on the bottom of the entertainment cycle. I could jump into it at any time.
    6. Music. - Typically my experience with music is through anime opening and ending themes so I'd lump this into "YouTube".
    7. Disturbing news media. - It can be an issue, but less so.
    8. sex chat with your gf. - Depends what is meant by this. My fiancee and I are not having sex until we marry and we do not do fantasy sex chat. I can see where my mind can be a little too focused on having sex with her.

    ---

    9. Webtoons. - I've been following three Webtoons lately. Almost lied and said two but I realize it has escalated to three. Very easily I could jump to four or more. For my health, it's time to step back.
    10. Recovery surfing. - This could be watching recovery videos, devotions pertaining to pornography and sex, and even reading around on the NoFap forums. I can see recovery becoming its own form of addiction. My goal now is to restrict myself to this thread and the one for the LotR challenge. Mostly just to check in.

    Let's do this.

    Day 0/30

At the moment I'm not going to bother counting up. Going to work out a plan of what to strive for to complement the "don't" list.

I'll put watching a TV show with my fiancee on the green list since because I'm doing it together with another person. One thing I can do to improve this activity is to better understand that this TV time together is a bonding experience with her and not the same as soaking up an entertainment experience alone for my own pleasure. It can be for happiness.
