  4. So, here's a question. Is everyone looking at the same type of porn? Porn isn't just generic and one type. There's different variations, and maybe that is what is causing the issue with all of us?

Still no changes for me. Can't get an erection at all. And to make things worse, my gf broke up with me 5 days ago so I'm also an emotional wreck, which won't be helping.

You have to cut off all screen time. Screen time produces dopamine as well. Porn just causes a higher dopamine. No TV,video games, computer, PHONE, ect to get that real dopamine reset

Use this time to heal properly. No pressure from girlfriend. Natural dopamine, workouts, semen retention, sun, food(more meat, less sugar/carbohydrates. Let your body heal itself. This way your tostesterone will rise and your problem will be sloved.

Moderation is key. You can still do TV, computer, and video games, just don't use it as much and never use porn. Video games don't cause your dopamine to crash to the point of erectile dysfunction unless it's nudity.

Great! Now you can do whatever you want to do. Learn to be happy without her. She can’t make you happy. Get in shape, master nofap, upgrade your wardrobe, go to restaurants, workout etc. she will be Begging for you back and then you can choose to take her back or take the better high quality options that will be knocking down your door.

Are you sure about video games being ok? Playing to much of it can wipe out your personality and motivation for doing anything else.

Do you think a break up can fuck up your dopamine receptors too?

You probably can permafry your dopamine receptors but I doubt you can do it with porn. Something more extreme like smoking crack would probably do it.

I know meth can but I've never touched that. Just weird how I still struggled with pretty severe ED even to this day.

How much more of a dopamine high do crack and meth give compared to porn?

No, you have not damaged your dopamine receptors.
When you do porn, you raise your Dopamine to about 1100 ng of dopamine, the same as cocaine does.
The usual maximum dose of dopamine for everyday pleasures varies from 40ng to 100ng for most pleasurable activities.
So you can see the un-natural high that porn produces in dopamine, just the same as a cocaine addict receives.

The flood of dopamine eventually causes the loss of dopamine receptors in the bodies attempt to rebalance itself (homeostasis),
since the brain says, well if I have so much dopamine I don't need all those receptors and will prune a few to rebalance.
This drop in the number of dopamine receptors means that everyday pleasures in the 40 to 100ng range just don't excite you anymore and life feels bland and boring.

The huge increase in dopamine also causes other brain pathways to be created linking porn with memory and automatic functions, similar to driving a car after a long period, where it becomes automatic.

When you give up porn the reduction in dopamine receptors will eventually be corrected, but that is assuming you don't refresh the porn induced pathways. So know that just as a drug addict or alcoholic will always have to be aware of their vulnerability, as porn addicts we are the same.

My advice, and I am not a doctor or therapist, so it is only a personal opinion, is to NEVER look at porn again, full stop.
Not once a month, not once a year, otherwise you will refresh those old porn pathways and although you are not back to square one but it will take you about 1 week to recover back to feeling good again. That is my experience, so I just never watch porn, otherwise I may as well go back to being an addict.

If you are not sure you never want to watch porn and PMO again it will make quitting that much harder.

So stay positive, you will recover, but it could take up to 2 years, and the fact that you were having normal sex is a good indicator that you were on the road to recovery.
So remember, simply NO PORN of any type, not even playing it in your mind.

All the best, cheers for now.

Awesome post. Question though - what do you mean by 'ng'?
