"She Knows My Name"
(Story of the Pharmacy Assistant)
I walk into the pharmacy to pick up my meds. M is standing at the same desk, looking down at a pile of scripts. I walk up, greeting Kellie (the pharmacist); M notices me but does not greet me. Kellie says, "I'll be with you in a sec," takes my pill bottle, and walks out the back.
There I am, with this pretty girl in front of me, standing nervously and looking at the ground, with full-blown RGTs (Real-Girl Terrors).
I have vowed to combat the RGTs, not to mention the PMO. At a 102-day NoFap streak, the semen retention has completely restored my sense of confidence.
So I say, "Excuse me?"
M looks up. "Yes?"
"Do you guys sell ear-studs here?"
She fixes her pretty eyes on me. I examine her ears, which are pierced with what I can only presume are small spacers, as well as dangling ornaments, partly covered by her hair.
"Yeah we do, they're just down the back. Did you want me to show me where they are?"
"Yeah... just after this is taken care of." [Referring to my dose and pill pickup.]
"OK," she says, with a hint of a smile.
I have found a pretext to talk to her, flirt with her, even get her number. The door to a date is wide open. The RGTs have completely disappeared.
"Lot of scripts there, huh?"
"Uh... yeah," she says.
"That will keep you busy," I say.
Kellie comes back with my Suboxone films. I place them under my tongue. M helps Kellie by printing out a sticker for my diazepam bottle. M examines the sticker. Now, she knows my name.
"Is it still two and a half a day?" she asks Kellie.
(I take the opportunity to examine her name tag. It says M******. Now, I know her name!)
"Yeah," says Kellie. Kellie helps dispense the rest of my meds (two and a half 5mg diazepam and one 300mg pregabalin) and gets me to sign the staged supply sheets. M leaves, clearly busy with these scripts.
"Thanks [Atman]," says Kellie.
"Oh," I say, "I was going to get the young lady to show me where the ear studs are."
"I can show you where they are!" says Kellie.
(Damn, I think. My opportunity to browse ear-studs and chat with M is lost!)
She shows me the ear-studs. I browse through them. Hmm... January: Garnet, February... April: Diamond. There we go. They're $14.95 for the pair. I'll buy them later. I look across the pharmacy to see if M is out the front again. I see her right down the back, facing away from me. I decide to talk to her later.
Well, that's it. I didn't have sex, I didn't get a date, and I didn't even get her number or find out if she's taken. But, the door is open for me to make further conversation, say hi, approach her, whatever! I did it! I did it!
