14/30 (9pm) This shutting down of devices early starts to feel like a normal (and right) thing to do.
13/30 (22:25) Indeed. Almost every night before the deadline I have to wrap things up and leave them for tomorrow. Before this challenge, I could sit for hours and try to complete stuff (e.g. code, I'm a programmer) but leaving them for tomorrow is so much better. Either three hours of extra coding and a lousy day after, or go to bed on time and a healthy day follows. If anyone has a Mac and would like to have a kind reminder it's time to stop using it, tell me. I have made a script that gets the computer to sleep every minute after a certain time. Since I have to stop using my computer at 22:25, I have configured my computer to go to sleep every minute after 22:20. If I have to do wrap anything up before the deadline, it's just a matter of waking it.
Sounds familiar. It takes some courage to let go of things even if they are unfinished. (Of course it is a hugely useful skill to be able to stick with your tasks when that is needed, but try to find a better time for it than bedtime.) It shouldn't threaten our ego if the current state of affairs doesn't necessarily match with the perfect image in our heads. It's been so common for me to work very hard the late hours (and first hours of the next day), and then be completely done the next morning. Compare that with the habit of immediately starting your day with the work you normally would have tried to do the previous night. It's a completely different world.
I am in I’ll turn off my device at 11pm. Though I’ll be starting tomorrow for it is already pass 11pm.
