I am having trouble blocking two specific sites with Forticlient. I don’t want to say them here, but would wonder if anyone has any advice on this topic.

The sites are not being blocked. They are accessible even though I have blocked the URL and wild card in Forticlient.

I personally don't use Forticlient, so take this with a grain of salt: Maybe you have only blocked one domain while allowing another, which takes priority. So, if you block sub.example.com while allowing example.com, your first block might not work. Also, on some blockers (not sure if FortiClient is one of those) you have to block example.com as well as www.example.com for it to work properly.

Could you potentially explain in greater detail what you want to block specifically? If you don't wanna say, just use a placeholder. We can't really help you, if we don't know what your issue is specifically.

Does anyone know of a method to block porn, "sexy" content, and keywords on a Smart TV? I installed CleanBrowsing DNS on my router, but there are certain apps I can use on my TV to access adult content. For instance, I usually watch youtube on my TV and when I'm tempted, there are certain videos I watch that Clean Browsing DNS doesn't block. Clean Browsing DNS forces safe search and blocks most adult content on youtube except this. I don't want to type it here because I don't want others to be tempted by it. There are other apps on my TV that Clean Browsing doesn't filter. For one app, I set a acceptable content level and then set a hard to remember password for it, but I can easily bypass it with little effort. There are no Parental Controls on the TV that blocks the Apps that I've been able to find. There are Parental Controls for channels, but none that blocks the apps. There are parental controls inside the apps themselves. It's that certain search term that I'm mainly concerned about on my youtube app. I also searched this keyword on the Facebook Watch App that brought up a few videos.

I also tried keyword blocking on my router, but it doesn't work. I tried several times and several keywords, but it's useless.

Smart TVs don't give you a lot of options. I think the cleanbrowsing DNS filter enforces restricted mode on youtube so that's about as good as you're going to get.

You could try reporting those videos to youtube for sexual content, though realistically they probably won't do anything about it.

If you want to go nuclear you could set your router to block the MAC Address of your smart TV so you no longer have internet content available on it.

Use adb to get rid of youtube app and the preinstalled browsers, then block adb in pc.

You can remove literally everything, even playstore

What OS are you trying to do this on? If it's on windows then plucky should do this with the system feature enabled. It should definitely do it with the system feature and the nhb feature both enabled.

Although chrome based browsers will still work, as the pluck extension will automatically be added to them. You would need to manually block those browsers. But I don't see what the point would be of that, as these browsers would be restricted with plucky the exact same way chrome is.

    Hi @skaterdrew,
yes that is Windows. Thank you, I had system feature enabled but the nhb not so will just add this and believe it'll do the job.
The reason for that is because I used cold turkey as my main tool and pluckeye only as a support. There's feature for cold turkey that is missing in pluckeye, correct me if I'm wrong, which is to block all domains of certain site, for example: google*, bing*, etc. It's extremely useful. Of course I can manually disable them in pluckeye but I have to know every domain instead of picking just *. And yes, I know some sites which pluckeye puts a blind eye on, won't describe them obviously.

I don't see how it's useful, for example if you block all the keywords of porn* it will not block a lot of pornographic website that doesn't have the word "Porn" in them...

So how do you use this feature for ?

It's not about the whole group of websites. Let's say for example that I've an issue with google. There are plenty of domains used for google, for example: google.eu, google.ru, google.com, it's hard to describe every possible domain. Instead in Cold Turkey I just write: google* and it blocks every possible combination starting with google in the Internet address.

When your trying any new rule with plucky, and you don't know how it will work, then use when now first, just to see if it is a rule that you would want in place all the time.

    pluck + when now+5m flee host google.com

Try that, and then try to access all the different google sites.

  16. Coub

    Coub Fapstronaut

Thank you @skaterdrew . What does a "host" word do in the pluck rule line?

You can also use flee word.

    So flee word google

This will block the word google on every site that is not in your allow list.

But remember before trying anything, use when now, just to make sure you know exactly what the rule does

So pluck + when now+2m flee word google

    pluck + when now+5m block text/

Try that. This will block every website that is not in your allow list.

Be careful with flee word though. Fleeing a word will literally block the word on every single page that is not in your allow list. So for example, if you flee the word porn, this would block every page that simply has the word porn written on it somewhere. So if you didn't have nofap.com in your allow list, and you flee word porn, this will block the page if someone has simply wrote the word porn somewhere. But if nofap is in your allow list, then the word porn will not be blocked. It won't be blocked on an allowed site.

Thank you @skaterdrew once again. You're really kind, helpful person. One, last additional question for you: if I do pluckeye rule as follow: [...] flee word BARACK OBAMA
does it block words either Barack or Obama or does it block only combined 2 words, where they're next to each other on the webpage?
Let's say below are sentences in 2 different wikipedias:
Barack Obama is living in USA -> blocked
Obama was given Barack as his first name -> blocked or not?

It only blocks the combined. So if you flee word BARACK OBAMA then it will only block this. It won't block the word Barack or Obama on their own.

But the thing is, if you flee the word BARACK OBAMA, and you enter Barack into a search engine, you need to realise that the results for Barack Obama are going to be huge, actually blocking this page very quickly. Actually I have tested it on google, and simply typing in bara is instantly blocking the google page, when I am temporary fleeing the word BARACK OBAMA. It will be more sensitive on a search engine though, because that is providing many results. It's providing results before you even enter the word.

    iOS questions:
if you reset a device you remove blocks
iOS screen time pw is required to reset from settings directly, so if that pw is unavailable then you can't reset in that way.
However, if you know the lock-screen pw you can tick 'reset after 10 wrong passwords',
enter 10 wrong passwords and thus reset the device.

Is there a way to have the '10 wrong pw reset' setting unable to be turned on?
Is there a way to stop the device resetting after 10 wrong attempts even if the setting is turned on?
