I hate looking at myself in the mirror because it's 16 years of failure manifested in front of me. My body is physically decaying and I feel helpless. Tens of thousands of hours have gone down the drain. Internet and porn addiction are just as bad if not worse than substance drugs and the normalization of it has ruined people's lives.

At 16 you're a baby. Almost no doors are closed for you yet. You can be whatever you want if you start today.

Self control is the key. Good and bad have been mixed in the internet.

If you don't want to go to university learn a trade. Well paid and less stressful, better job security.

Trades here suck and are just as stressful as any other job. I'm tempted to just go off-grid and start fresh. Work as a helper. The modern world seems like a death trap.

I hear you, that you are discouraged. It's good you're able to go for walks, that helps the mind heal. It's wise you want to stay off phones... I assume you have a tablet or computer then? Is there a local library or bookstore? And some nice shaded area outside? Maybe find a book that intrigues you, one you don't have to force yourself to get through and read outside.

Get more outside for sure. Is there anyone you halfway enjoy hanging out with at your school? If you are able and so long they're not doing drugs and stupid stuff, hang out with them.

I'm born and raised here, if anything I should have every right to hate this crap town, and yet the progressive morons will call me a bigot and close-minded for not praising their obvious gentrification process.

I've studied the history of Dundee for years and the entire city industry was built on the exploitation and abuse of the working class. The first millionaires' row was built here in the Ferry while there were slums and workhouses one street above. Why should we be proud that our forefathers were forced to work 16-hour shifts in the jute mills for borderline slave labour under 5p wages?

Why are we "proud" to be from these irrelevant towns whose only claim to fame are industries that haven't existed since at least the 1960s? I need out, this place feels like a coffin. All the people trying to delude themselves into thinking this poverty-stricken mess is somehow of any relevance and importance need a reality check.

Just noticed you're from Scotland, but should be similar routes there. If you have an academic counselor consider scheduling an appointment to discuss the road ahead.

Trades here are rough, you only choose them if you're thick and have no qualifications. Wages aren't the greatest either. I want a more academic job, something I can work towards. Maybe engineering or psychology. But those are very elitist posh subjects and take years to study.

As long as it's something I'm happy doing and financially stable I'll do it. Going the trade route feels unfulfilling. But I'll keep your advice in mind about the church. I'm a prod but don't attend church anymore. Might do me some good. Cheers.
