Honestly, after 20 years of porn, i had scars on my dick before starting nofap, that's why now i can come in 30 seconds, which doesn't look like an advantage to me...

You're saying the same i'm saying. Nofap will help you with PIED and at first for eradicate porn addiction. Nothing more than that.

It won't make you more social, more handsome, more attractive to woman, more happy, feeling better with yourself, more calm, more at ease, nothing like that.

You say i was expecting too much, but actually the thing i just listed, (more social, more handsome, more attractive to woman, more happy, feeling better with yourself, more calm, more at ease) are the exact same things every site, every resource promote nofap with. The ybop site promote nofap with those and many other advantages, all the youtubers, other forums and site on no masturbation promothe all those things and much more.

So i was not expecting too much, i was expecting exactly what the NoFap is proposing, nothing more.

Which mean that not only you're expecting something, you're actually expecting nofap to fix your entire life.
It's the same mistake i've made, and i've been deluded badly...

No i know nofap won't change my entire life.
Talk about just taking someting out off thin air and say that im expeting something when i don't.

Just like I know that my life with drugs and alcohol is a fucking mess, i know that with porn its the same. That's why i don't want that shit in my life. So that is why im sober and doing nofap.

And by experience i notis that my life is better and i feel better when im sober. Is that expecting ? No it's experiencing benefits.

All i know is that Porn and MB has taken me to places where i no longer wanna be. There for i do not look at porn or fap anymore.

That's great and i'm happy for you. My experience has been different, i reached very good things in life years ago when i was masturbating and watching porn.

Not everyone is affected negatively, seems like you are one of them. When these sources promote NoFap with all these benefits, they are targeting the people whose lives have been hindered by porn and masturbation. When they drop their destructive habit, they become their normal selves, and experience all the benefits that should've been normal to them already. It's like the habit restricts them from being who they really are. But again not everyone is like this, and I know others too who are doing fine with their habit. But even if they're doing fine, anyone will benefit from dropping a habit that is just a waste of time.

Here we can agree 100 %. I look at "hardmode" as prerequisite to start working on lifestyle changes needed to start seeing positive results you mentioned. But it's kind of chicken or the egg dilemma. I was numb, tired, anxious/depressed workaholic mess when I started with abstention. I knew I had to make radical changes in my life, but daily binge PMO sessions literally sucked all the energy out of me, keeping me in a stagnating/regressing PMO rabbit hole. Once I stopped with binge PMOing, I was not exhausted all the time anymore so I could force myself to start implementing new healthy behaviors into my daily life. People who just abstain, count days and change nothing else, will most probably see no results and relapse at some point in time (I'm guilty of doing this in the past). Most of the long term success stories on this forum know and follow active recovery path. BUT I don't blame anyone who is still thinking NoFap will solve all their problems, I was one of them once. It takes time to realize you need radical overhaul of your life in order to get rid of this compulsive addictive behavior (not exchange it for another) and get other positive side effects from doing so. PMO is our drug of choice (at least for us, long term compulsive daily binge MB-ers). Eliminating "drug" from our lives is only the 1st non negotiable step needed on the path to recovery. It's a must, but also only the beginning. The same is true for any addiction, be it to substance or harmful behavior.

For me the main reason why I'm on nofap is to get rid of my insomnia. How long does it take to start seeing improvements of your sleep?

You dudes been masturbating and watching porn for years, and think your brain willl heal in a week, you need at least 200 days / a year to at least see something, but its obviously that youre all rewired for instant rewards its obvious that you will also want instant reward with stopping masturbation or porn

6 months hard mode, then 5 month having sex more or less twice a month, and masturbating not more than 5 times in the last 2 months, 4 of this times on pics.

Thar doesn't look like a week to me.

Hey man, I've described some things in this thread.
    https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.p...k-nofap-is-placebo.226051/page-3#post-2003086
Could you respond to these? I'd like to know what you think about it :)

Also, what was your habit? How many times a week/day and for how long? 15 mins, 1 hour, 5 hours a day?

To put things in perspective I had an irritating vice like head pressure symptom that kicked in 35 days into recovery and was on and off till at least 18 months. Also the anxiety was unbearable at the worst of all this and for the most part is gradually diminishing. I had around 25-30 symptoms from acute withdrawal and whatever else most of them are gone.

I sub-par was relating a lot to benzodiazepine recovery stories on benzo buddies with symptoms. I've never even seen a benzo in my life.

Porn is severely underestimated as a powerful mind altering drug that can have serious consequences.

Have you experienced any depression during your recovery period? I noticed that I still have problem with emotions. I'm mentally rock solid as long as I do my daily vigorous aerobic exercise routine. If I don't do it I'm catapulted in a state of deep sadness and anxiety. I can manage going one day without exercise, max two, before my mood falls off the cliff. The problem is that such routine is not sustainable over the long run as you never know what obstacles life throws in front of you. I was hit by a car while cycling this week. I have to thank God I got only minor bruises and knee ache from flying over the car rooftop. I was back on the bike two days after regardless of pain as I was too afraid of emotional turmoil if I made a pause. It feels like exercise has become my antidepressant pill replacing binge PMO. That's not very encouraging. Have you experienced anything similar?

Damn this thread is still going, might as well say something serious this time.

@arkad1, I understand how frustrating it can be to go on a long streak and see no results, or not the results you wanted, I experienced the same disillusionment myself around that time. At around day 180 I said to myself that I had gone far enough and was just going to relapse, because why not right? Well it turns out I was wrong, I had the breakthrough realisation that 6 months just wasn't long enough to recover from what was nearly a decade of regular porn use and that I needed more time. Now I'm nearly 300 days into this and I STILL experience withdrawal symptoms of varying types an degrees, I still experience urges, and crucially, I dont feel fully recovered. It will likely take at least up until day 365 for me to see another incremental change, and perhaps even more than that for further recovery. You have done very well for yourself so far but I genuinely believe you can accomplish more, I say this as someone who does believe that some of the anecdotal "benefits" of NoFap are complete bogus, same as you. At the very least, spending the time you would spend PMO'ing on something else more productive is worthwhile in and of itself

I have only had the chance to skim the last 7 or pages since I posted last, so maybe someone earlier made the same points, but I would urge you to listen to what @Big Lebowski is saying in his posts, because I think he gets to to the root of PMO addiction better than most on the site. PMO addiction can feel very much like an addiction to an actual drug, and that includes the withdrawal symptoms that I personally can vouch for as I experienced them myself. Once he brought up post acute withdrawal symptoms or "PAWS", and when I researched that I realised I had those symptoms despite not being addicted to hard drugs, that is how powerful an effect PMO can have and I think a lot of people are so used to it that they dont realise its even a problem. I urge you strongly to research this yourself.

I've read scientific studies that confirm the disrupting of the GABA/glutamate balance (benzo's play on the GABA system, creating a massive long-term glutamate-dominance in the body when you withdraw) in your body from overindulgence together with a disbalance in endorphins/enkephalins/dynorphins system such as endorphin-resistance, overactivity of dynorphin (and in severe cases also dynorphin-resistance). And I've not even talked about the dopamine-resistance. It involves faulty conditioning in the ventral tegmental area, the nucleus accumbens and eventually also creates hypofrontality.

These are neuro-psychiatric, scientific facts. And it explains the rumination, fear-like symptoms, lower immune-system which cause allergies, pain in the back and hips, hyper-vigilance, lethargy, oxytocin- & bondingproblems, etc.

You're saying the reason I had soft erections, delayed ejaculation and absence of morning wood was because I lacked confidence?

Most of the things have been touched on in the replies (NoFap is only a tool, you need to take initiative to improve other areas, etc).

But for me one advantage is I no longer have the shame of sitting for hours in a dark room watching other people have sex and jacking off to it. It forces me to find a way to handle the now ample free time I have (study, exercise, etc)
